Advice on making a Skin

Can anyone give some simple instructions on how to make one's own skin.
I was thinking of doing my own Escort or Capri Skin for the 2nd half of this season.
If admin's won't allow any more skins then I would still like to know.
A link to a guide or what programs I'll need would be great, thanks in advance. :)

I have made a few and the best ones are always clean and simple. Don't try to do to much, not at first anyway.
