Allyc4t has taken out another exciting instalment of the F1A Development Series last night at Silverstone, England, with a comfortable win over the McLaren of Archer and the BMW Sauber of Chatters, who impressed all with the first podium of his F1A career.

Qualifying threw up a couple of surprises. Chatters kept his good qualifying form intact with a 5th placing, but the real surprise was the Red Bull of Daniel Maric, who was the fastest driver in Q1 and was able to back it up with P2 in Q2. Mactec scored pole position, with Archer 3rd, Allyc4t 4th, Chatters 5th and Milky 6th.

There was drama on the warm-up lap as the McLaren of Mactec dropped out, and was unable to rejoin the race. MacTec later confirmed that a problem with his version of ‘Spotter’ had caused rFactor to minimise and he was then disconnected from the server.

Nevertheless, the grid lined up as per normal. The lights went on. 1, 2, 3, GO! GO! GO! Archer got a great start and led the field into Turn 1. Daniel Maric bogged down and was swamped going through Turn 1 by both Ferraris and the BMW of Chatters, but managed to retain 2nd place on a chaotic opening lap. Archer bolted and never looked back as he increased his lead to more then 6 seconds in the opening laps. Further back, there was a great tussle going on between Daniel Maric, Chatters and Allyc4t, all fighting for 2nd spot. The three ran line astern for several laps before Maric made a mistake and spun, and was hit by Chatters, who didn’t react quickly enough to the stricken Red Bull. Maric required a pit-stop for a new nosecone but Chatters was able to continue.

From there the race settled down into a steady procession. Daniel Maric, out with a point to prove, began having a great fight with Milky over 5th place, which ended in the RBR driver’s favour. Meanwhile, the leading order was Archer, Allyc4t, Chatters, and Loza in the Toyota in 4th. Archer, who was on a two-stop strategy, pitted on Lap 10; handing the lead over to Allyc4t in the Ferrari. From there Allyc4t floored it, and when Chatters was forced to pit on Lap 14 due to miscalculated fuel strategy in Q2, he was leading by a good 20 seconds when he pitted on Lap 16. Archer regained the lead from second spot but needed to pit again on Lap 21. Would he come out ahead of Chatters in P3? The answer was yes, and with Chatters unable to provide an answer to the pace of the leading pair, he settled into 3rd for the remaining 9 laps.

So the winner, his 5th of the season, was Allyc4t. The win, plus MacTec’s DNS, puts him first atop the F1A Development League Championship standings, with 67 points to MacTec’s 59. Second for McLaren was Archer, who was only just unable to pull off the two stop strategy, and scored a healthy 8 points, his 5th podium in a row. Third for BMW Sauber was Chatters, with a faultless performance, which sees him more then double his existing points tally and vault back into the Top 10 in the Championship. 4th was Loza, who drove a fairly quiet race in the Toyota, ahead of Daniel Maric and Milky in 5th and 6th. Toby Hussey finished 7th, and Malaysia winner Keybored came home 8th.
