I was going to add some up in the thread Glen put up at Xtreme Teams but since XGN is back I may as post here instead. Just some piccies from the other night. Being an open server race I expected some carnage (and there was some) but overall I thought the racing was pretty good! The field was dominated by Alfas and Cortinas but some Mustangs, Fiats, a couple of Falcs and me and Glen in Jags mixed things up a bit.
Here is the field at the start of the race.
http://img157.imageshack.us/img157/7691/mido01my4.jpg
First couple of corners, there was these two Fiats that were driven hard by some good folks, I think they finished in the top 5! Also a Mini and Cortina in this one.
http://img157.imageshack.us/img157/1672/mido02mx8.jpg
Glen in the blue Jag mixing it up with the other cars. The Jag is a boat to say the least but oodles of fun. Well, until lots of tight corners interrupt. Lots of torque too, I found I could stay in 2nd gear most of the way round Mid Ohio.

(continuation, apparently you can only post 4 images and that includes smilies per post )
Me in the Green Jag and Scott Mac in the White Alfa. I think he had a bit of an off just prior because he qualified fairly high up. Either that or he got caught in the carnage at the start.
http://img157.imageshack.us/img157/2770/mido04ea9.jpg
Me getting sideways as per usual. Surely to the delight of the Cortina driver behind me. One of things I love about this mod is that provided you are quick enough, you can correct the oversteer unlike a number of other rfactor mods.
http://img157.imageshack.us/img157/3635/mido05kc1.jpg
And this was the winner of the race. This dude named Nafan managed to fight off the Alfa horde and take top honours in the Mustang. Kudos to him!

These guys were my heroes when they were racing, although my father never took us to these races, I consumed the papers and magazines when I could afford them and some of the older hotrodders around the area would update me on these events and the drags at Fisherman's Bend etc.
That Stormin' Norman Beechey not only won but he was the showman too and still a gentleman.
He took his re-built Impala to Rob Roy a few years ago and I watched as he got a young kid who was hanging around, interested, in the car, strapped him in with helmet and told the kid about his Chev... a pleasure to see.

Hey FT, your speedo is stuffed, the telemetry says 171Kph at 9225rpm :fear:
BUT you speedo is hovering just above 90 mph! You'll need to get that looked at.
Damn this is looking good. Nice close racing, wish i had 10 days a week and a copy of rFactor...

Hehehe, I will stick with the highest reading!
We all had a ball last week, the majority were pushing each other, close racing for most for most of each sprints.
I think the sprints certainly have proved for some tight racing here.

in P&G was great for a lot of the time, but the long race, wehn you loose contact, you tend not to regain the others.
(I never saw you guys at the lead until you lapped me late in the race, but that is normal for me), both fun, but this mod with this group is really a hoot.
The lads need you here too to push 'em.

I downloaded v1.225 last month, but have not installed it.
Can you run the game online for a trial period before committing to buy?
I just remember my last experience with rFactor left me cold, i need you boys to reassure me you can feel things through the wheel, last time it felt almost like an arcade game.
Are you running an Aus only leauge, like GTL last season, to keep the pings low?
I don't think i would be pushing the front guys bruce, i was handy driving, but speed & ysu were in a different league, :alien:

Unfortunately You cannot run it online as a demo (I think), but it really is amazing value for money, around $60 I think.
Ironically I had to turn FFB off at Brands Hatch, but that is a weird track issue, it was as though I was permanently on ripple strips.
It uses Realfeel plugin (or Rfactor standard) for FFB effects, I'm no expert on FFB, but it seems ok to me.
I can honestly tell You this knocks GTL for 6 for immersion, it just feels more real, from the sounds to the improved graphics, physics of the cars, it's all a step up from GTL.
Not sure about Aus only at the moment, ask the admins.

No, but you get an hour (which disappears very quickly, get a suggessted track, car and setup from Glen or Imperious to give you a max value out of the demo), to play.
I just remember my last experience with rFactor left me cold, i need you boys to reassure me you can feel things through the wheel, last time it felt almost like an arcade game.
It took me some time to get a comfortable feel, early it was too real, it felt like I was throwing my FJ around, but now have what I think is a realistic feel, last night the Jag felt 'true'.
Are you running an Aus only leauge, like GTL last season, to keep the pings low?
We haven't addressed this, as the field so far has been 'local', but I think the net code for rFactor can handle some international, easily NZ bros, if it tainted the races, then we would look at it. (Glen correct me where you need)
I don't think i would be pushing the front guys bruce, i was handy driving, but speed & ysu were in a different league, :alien:
You seem to have an infinity with this range of cars, (I admit Ysu and Speed etc were consistently in the lead in all of the vehicles in GTL, but IMHO, GTL really suited them, I think rFactor along with P&G may have changed the general rankings), I think you would be up there.

You sweet talker you.....
OK if i install it, with Historx, what track should i try? What cars?
I enjoy cars that steer well and go very fast
Typically i drive with tight diff hard rear springs and a little rear brake bias, i love oversteer :)
So if any one has a setup or ideas.....
Sorry for the hijack, should i start a new thread??

MUSTANG <--- This is unanimous. Fastest and fun in TC-65 (the others are fun too).
I have driven the Le Mans Corvette, an you need LeMans to get thing wound up, man does it sound and run like a GRUNT machine, you sweat, standing on the brakes at the end of the straights!
eg: Jag + GTL = ho-hum, Jag + HistorX = JAG!, competitive. (IMHO)
Still early days, I have not driven most of the cars...
You need Glen's assistance to setup, and Glen or Imperious for track and car selection and setup. (We need to get this right, :fish2: , don't want to loose you now!)
Calling Glen or Imperious :horn: quick get him while we can!
ps the hijack post is okay.

I use a hyperstimulator, so i assume the wheel setup will be easy, no FFB...
I am out of download quota this month, i need my remaining bandwidth for P&G, so i'll have a look after the 8th when my account rolls over.
I hope i enjoy it, love to get into some close racing like the good old XGN GTL days, see you soon.........

Depends on what you use, paddles with 2 pedals, paddles with 3 pedals, H pattern with 3 pedals, H pattern with 2 pedals.
Theres options for all this that have to be set correctly.
just out of interest whats the rotation on that wheel please.

Ok thats cool, by default it will be H pattern 3 pedals, which would be very hard to drive with paddles and 2 pedals. When you choose 2 pedals and paddles in the "car upgrade menu" that turns on auto blip (rev match) and auto clutch. If you dont pick that you will be doing 180's everytime you down shift.

Just got home and checked the Hyper, about 370 degrees, i could have sworn it was more!
Can you turn auto blip and clutch off? Is there a damage model for the gear box? I have always driven GTL and GTR with no aids, i just match revs when i downshift, the only difficult part is the start when you just have to set your revs then slam it into gear :fear:
Cheers

RPO, You need to get into the Vehicle select screen (Offline), and when You have bought Your car, select upgrades, then purchase "Variable Steering Ratio", the top wheel setup is for 900 degrees only, and whatever Pedals setup suits, I use the top one, heel and toe (no auto blip), I also only use the clutch for the start, so likely a 2 pedal setup and just slamming it into gear will work fine.
With this system You have to match revs on downshift otherwise You will do a 180 as Glen says, I don't at this stage know whether this system will work with the more powerful cars, like the 76's

I love the Mustang but as this league is TC65 havent really tried many others.
Oh, just remembered , the Escort was great fun too. The other great thing about rFactor is the on-line code, you dont get any of that cars "jittering" that I get in any Simbin game (GTR2,GTL & Race07), the other cars are rock steady
