Well that was definitely a shock surprise.
How often is it that a bug of sorts in the game works to Your benefit?
Basically I could not join the server successfully with any of the upgrades installed, like variable steering ratio, and gear change with throttle lift. So I had to use a car that was stock with no upgrades, my personal setups were not affected.
I spent ages last night getting a good setup and could only manage a 1.44. Race 1 was a bit of a disaster as I was trying to drive the car the same way as I had with upgrades installed, which didnt work well and caused lockup under braking , especially as I hadn't learned to avoid 1st gear and also as I also hadn't learned to match revs and downshifts accordingly. Had a good scrap with Flattop though! :)
Race 2 was amazed by my pace when the car spotter said low 1.42, how did I do that I thought. There is one other major thing that affected my pace, which was to up the rev limit to 7500rpm, which explains why I could blast past Gwyar on the straight, especially around the time I upshifted gears!
Unfortunate only 4 of us showed up,but was fun and I learned heaps.
Looking forward to next week, will have a separate standalone install by then too.

G,day
Race 1 wasnt to bad but i didnt think it would turn out the way it did.
Race 2 i quickly jumped out to grab the falcon and then came back in to see Imp doing better times than me, so i thought thats great i shall grab the Mustang again as this is the car i like to do battle with. Got off to a good start after Imp overshot the second corner and left the door open, i took 1st place and then watched Imp try and get past Grant which allowed me to open up a 4 second gap, form then on i could see once Imp got past Grant he slowley took out tenths each sector but nothing major til i overshot a corner. Somehow got a decent buffer back up to take the second race win :)
Highlight for me was watching Bruce in the Practise seesion pushing the falcon around the corners with his right foot. Great stuff!
We might have only had 4 peeps but it is still a hell of a lot a fun driving these machines of the 60's
Hope we get some more numbers at lakeside :)

Its a good thing these cars are a hoot to drive, and its a beautifull track, cos with 4 cars it would be a bit boring otherwise. This is the best feeling mod of all time.
R1: Glen pulled away, Imperious fell back, thats all :ohwell:
R2: Got the Jump on Imperious at the start but he eventually got past and then just circulated to the end.

I ran Glens setup (thank you) and that was set at 7,500 too. I have a feeling which I will have to test that using the shifter and manual clutch gives a small performance advantage (reckon the Bathurst Legend cars are the same), so might have to go back to using them. Only ran the paddles so I could use the shifter for quick chat, but not a lot of need for that here with short races and small fields. WD Glen and Imperious, will see if I can be a bit more competitive next week. (didnt even turn a lap this week till practise, too busy)

Just a suggestion, how about making next week, Cortinas, Minis ,Alfas and Abarths only :tape:
Oops just realised, thats pretty much whats on the following week, without the Abarths and Alfas

Run it by Flattop but i think its not like we are trying to convince 20 people here so we should be fairly flexible.
Also just for the record i use heel and toe and no auto clutch.
Using heel and toe means you can flat shift up through the gears but comming down you have to rev match the motor or blip the throttle.
Once you master heal and toe as Imp found last night, the rewards come pretty quickly.

Well I had fun even if once again playing on my own in race 2.
Race one had me working pretty hard but picking up some seconds thanks to Glen's setup in the Falcon.
Certainly perplexed having Imperious on my tail in race one, was working hard to keep him there for some of the time but finally got passed and pulled away in the last laps.
Had a mate here for dinner and he stayed and watched and along with my wife, a little unnerving to say the least. :tape:
Had a little problem in practice, this is off the ripple strip on the last hairpin.
I think the height may be a little excessive, it gave the chopper pilot a scare as well as myself. :)
