G,day XGNers
I thought i would put this thread not only for the new people to introduce themselves but also the new people that might want to know a bit about the peeps already here!
Just quickly about myself, I got involved with XGN GTL season 1 a few years back and loved sim racing ever since. My main love is the Historic cars from the 60's 70's and some 80's. I love going to the Historic car meetings at Phillip island, Sandown and Bathurst. I take my sim racing pretty seriously but still remember its a game for fun. Sim racing is great as there are no repair bills at the end of the race and it's great to meet like minded people online into the same sort of cars. I also enjoy mocking up skins and few vids here and there from league races.

Bruce from Melbourne here, meet up with XGN in Season 2 of GTL some time ago, been hangin' around ever since.
Sim racing saves my sanity, saves my real car from being flogged and saves heaps of money with the "<Esc> key car rebuilds" after an "incident" (I never crash!)
Growing up with these cars, some on the streets some in the news and on tele, is still my favourite era of racing, so I will be here for a while.

Hi guys Paul from Melbourne here.
I raced V8COC when it was going and i also race at another league. I play the Historic-X mod every now and then - it is great fun to drive, challenging to get a good lap out of it.
I race karts most weekends which keeps me off the streets :playball:

Ash she's looking pretty hot mate. As Ash knows I'm also a Zedaholic. Any body know when the rFactor Zed will be ready. I found this WIP ICC car below. Are these WIP cars "in design cars"???

Hi All,
Steve from Melbourne, i used to race XGn GTL but after the crash, i have been racing Power & Glory at NoGrip.
Bruce is responsible for me beeing here with his constant encouragement (i was going to use another term Bruce :))
Installed HistoriX last night for the first time and had a ball.
I still have major setup issues with my Hyperstimulator, but over the next couple of days i should be able to get it dialled (if i can concentrate, and not just have fun lapping)
I have owned a stack of GT Falcon's (a Ford man hence the forum name) and the odd XU-1 and A9x in my youth, i am also rather partial to oversteer :eyebrows: Thats why we all drive these mods i'm tipping. I drive a BF XR6 Turbo and have a couple of motorbikes.
See you all on the track.

Well I have learnt a couple of things "rpo83" = "RPO (Regular Production Option) 83," and your a Melbournite, I had a strange feeling you were a Qlder.
We probably have been passing each other on the road and maybe Sandown etc (in the crowd for me *smile*). I will give a wave to all the green late model utes I see from now on.
ohh and your polite to me too (-:

If you follow the Group C racing, my old road car is racing in that now (mainly Sandown).
I used to own Kel Goughs A9X that he raced in the 77 ATCC. I purchased it off him in the mid 80's (God i feel old!) It was my road car for a couple of years. Hooplay who races with us at NoGrip bought it off me, then on sold it to another friend who restored it back to race condition (put the stripes back on it) i have a few photos i can post if anyone is interested.
I was interested in going to the Hill Climb last weekend, but i forgot all about it. I'll see you on the road at some time Bruce, thank for the encouragement.

Fell outta love with rF for a while, but now with plugins like RealFeel and mods like Historix and NAGT et al, that lovin feeling as returned and am having a ball again :not_ripe:

G'day all, name is Justin, I started my Race Sim life here I believe in the Megane days with Gleno and Digz. Been a skinner for the Ausfactor Leagues for just on 2 years now. Was a painter in the Bathurst Legends Mod and now along with ESP we have created our own site, details in the sig and we are now involved in doing the 1980 ATCC mod for our beloved Sim. Big challenges ahead chaps, and if anyone wishes to help us out with photos and such please pop on by our forums for a hello.
Looking forward to racing here at XGN and its proved to be a great place to race with friends of all types of life. Good to be here and cya on track ! :bounce:

Fellas!
Name is redwog or Andrew and I started sim racing on xgn about 3 or 4 years ago doing a GTL league, then V8COC and a number of other rfactor leagues after that. Had a couple of kids over the last couple of years so simracing is difficult to squeeze in. I am coming back from a long time out and I am pretty rusty. Considering the low base I was coming from expect to find me at the back. Glen and 9metal are the guys I used to battle with so its nice to find them back.
Oh, can someone pm a praccy server pw or point me in the right direction? I just installed historicx mod and it seems nice!

Honestly i have been very busy working in the past few months, and yes i am
a iracing fanboy,look, at first i was very,very skeptical,but i gave it a go and
it is the best sim around(a lot to improve)but the feel you have racing, and competing is unsurpassed by any other sim at the moment,it is pricey i know, but is good, the tracks are just something incredible, they seam alive, the handle of the car on the track is very entertaining lol.. best motorsport sim
...is not easy and forgiving though
i am still racing rfactor of course with the rfl guys,is nice to race in a club
i`d love to install historx and show off my skillZ to you guys(ehehehee)
but i had decided that after 2 years of no stop gtl i`d would not touch another gtl car....:fear:,sure i am happy to see 30 ppl signed up for the league cheers to Glen for his hard work...you never know i`d probably install it now lol lol

Hi guys. I probably new to most guys here, but I used to race here when GT Legends first started off. I went in the first 3 or so seasons then jumped over to Rfactor with a bit of Race 07 as well.

Hey Fella's
I'm William, I used to race with alot of the old guys here in the old GTL league, so i know what a great bunch of guys are involved in the community here, I got tempted away to rFactor by the gp79 mod and joined their league, and could'nt find the time to do both leagues. I loved the fact that rFactor was so easy to mod and ended up choosing that platform over GTL, I then got involved with the HistorX team and development of the GTL mod, so i'm pretty wrapped that it has been recieved so well, and XGN as adopted it for its own league, the mod took ages to complete but in my opinion and from real life experiences with these type of cars, i think it plays better than GTL, but then again i could be bias,
Cheers

Well it's refreshing to know that I'm not the only boring ****er around.
All in jest, I'm am the boring ****er.
I'm 40 and and glad now just to get the dicks off my back always saying,
"nearly forty", "life begins at forty".etc. (Tough time of your life)
Worst problem is that my body was dorment for ten years, causing me to look 30yrs . And this means old people still don't take me seriously. But young people think I'm worldly. I'm living in exile. I'll get over it
My alias is Peter, about 6"1 in the old scale, built like a greek adonas in my dreams but when awake I'm a thoroughbred.
Been in sales, sales management all my life and, seem to enjoy it.
Hobbies thats a hard one, I'm like a compulsive obessive, what ever I'm doing I do 100% and you guessed it at the momment it's rfactor, I'll clarify not computers not web surfing just rfactor. So my computer skills are **** and i only know how to fps "bf2 and cod4" and now learning to drive.
But I'm going to be ****in good, just ask me.
So if you think I'm ignoring you or not responding properly, it's because I just don't understand.
This post has taken 1 hr and it's beginning to hurt.
Unlce dunc and Badseedy got me into this life changing expreince as they are my closest friends.
My wife and child go to bed early and this is the time when mild mannered peter
turns into "thepistol"
I've surfed all my life and been a active sports man, As living in Bris vagas seems to give you alot of time to enjoy the out doors.
My future goal is to ...

Well it may take you a lot longer to do your memoirs when you retire, but I do think there may be a large chapter on "HistorX Racing @ XGN", or at least I hope so.
Welcome and pleased you have found us, this is a good group to be involved in, (except that bloke "flattop")
Have a look around, read the rules in the sticky on our home page (http://www.xgn.com.au/forums/showthread.php?t=122), Glen73 will post something about jumping in this season if it is poss.
But your welcome to jump on the servers any time, if you see others on the servers say hello, they will know you have the password. (I will PM this to you).

If you are happy with the rules, and it sounds like you have "Fun", in your foremost thoughts, mixed with good clean competition, I can't see why you can't start mid-season with us and have a run at Watkins Glen NASCAR http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Watkins%20Glen this Wednesday night
and you can anytime have a "Sprinterboy Cup, one-lap hill climb" ("Top Gear"isc)

If you need setups, just ask here, on the forum, or if others are on our server, ask in chat, everyone here is very helpful.
If you need anything else just ask, Glen73, Sprinterboy or myself (Acelyte is an a sibaticle).

Was just reading through the intros and realised I haven't properly introduced myself. A born and bred KIWI [Insert sheep smilie here], have been in Melbourne for the past year and you Aussies haven't managed to scare me back home yet!
I'm only 28 years young so have never experienced in real-life all the cool cars you old blokes did/do in your youth. So sim-racing is as close to real racing I've been so far. I've played racing games since GP2 was on my Dad's laptop when I was really young and used to be a Playstation fanboi until a mate introduced me to GTL. Sadly my PC back then was a dog and couldn't run it very well so got into rfactor instead. So I was very very happy when Historx was released as it's by far and away the most fun mod I've ever played IMO and at least my GTL disk didn't go to waste.
I have a pretty cruisy attitude so I'll never be the fastest racer, but hey I have heaps of fun no matter where I am in the pack. Really looking forward to mixing it up with you guys in Season 3 and beyond! Oh yeah you can call me Rob too btw :)

Hello Reaps, man so pleased you found your way here on what appears to be a long path. I had sent many bulk emails out to all the email addresses I had but realised there were many missing, and now I know your one.
Things are happening here, we have had a couple of fantastic seasons getting all the parts together and having many of the drivers settle themselves in (or out as the case may be),
but I do know you are going to enjoy the competitive FUN racing here.

Hey chris, Welcome back to XGN.
Theres quite a few free skins in the skin pack. It may be better to pick one of those as i will be putting all the skins together this morning for one pack

Hello folks, i'm hoping to come back to some racing and I thought I ought to do the right thing and post in here (since I am a lazy bugger for not doing it before). Some of you might know me and some might not.
I've done a bit of racing on and off with XGN for a while and have tried to pitch in when I can but I am not the most commited fella around. Thankfully we have great blokes like Glen and Bruce around who put in the herculean effort instead. It's thanks to them and folks who roll up week in, week out and help out others with driving tips and settings etc that make up a good community like this. :thumb: I'm a QLD boy with a (patient)wife and two kids, although one is still on the way ;). Always been a bit keen on cars and racing although my interest lies primarily in older touring cars, always grab the Muscle car masters DVDs when come out :).
Anyway, hope to join you guys online soon and look forward to some good racing!
Cheers!

Had joined up here last year for some HistorX action but never got around to it, have just downloaded TCL and having soo much fun, heaps different from what im used to driving in rFactor. Even if the only thing i have tried so far is the TWR dunnydore :P.
I have no real racing experience but have attended a few trackdays at Sandown and one at Winton, which are bloody awesome fun. Should be heading out to Sandown in the next few months too (heres hoping).

I Found XGN on the league listing on rfactorcentral, was looking for an aussie league that wasn't V8's. I'll probably start off with the one-off races if I'm welcome, and maybe join either the historx or tcl championship as well.

Hello everyone,
I'm James or JamesRacer (depending on whether I've screw up my profile). I'm a lead developer working with Flattop here in Melbourne.
This is my first forray into sim racing (need for speed was my only other racing attempt if that counts). I've just got my first wheel (G25) and im playing this on a Mac laptop.
I'm learning about this heel&toe thing; it's more like head&toe&floorit&crash but anyway.
I've raced a few times, in Historix and Touring Cars and am really enjoying it. My 2yr old likes to stand on a chair next to me and give me advice; like don't crash dad... I don't seem to be listening.
As I don't own a car in real life anymore this is essential to my sanity so see you all around.

Hello,
My name is Brad, but have used the 'nick' wid for about 18 years in some form or another...
I have raced in open wheeler leagues and also console (i know it is different) and a bit of single player (from Geoff someone Grand Prix?) and enjoy my racing..
To say I am hopeless at car setups is an understatement, but it is still fun..
I havent raced Historic GT mod before, and have ordered the GTL (as i think i need it?) and have only played the TCL's on the rfactorcentral 5 lap races on racenet.. and even then i was way slow.. but they were cool...
Anyways.. I normally race with a couple of my mates once a week or what not with FSONE 2008, but one of my other mates & I would like to race in tin tops in a bigger league... and XGN ive raced with before.. so here i am :P~
I look forward to it!

Your background sounds similar to mine - ran rfactor (for fun) with mates once a week, played Geoff Crammond's grand prix (and Grand Prix 2), some console racing (my console driving is limited to Gran Tursimo on the ps)
Don't worry too much about setups, as BJ said, there's plenty of generosity here so if you need a setup just ask.
Hope to see you on track soon

G'day racers,
Matt here. I raced a few GTL leagues until everything went pearshaped with the site a while back. Always loved it and am really looking forward to doing some racing with the good folk at XGN again. All set up now after some fantastic help from RPO (LEGEND!) I struggle with the PC side of things and really appreciate the help I get here.
I did iRacing for a while and whilst it is a great sim, it just didn't have that club feel...
I love my sim racing and love nothing better than a good clean ding dong battle with someone no matter where in the field it is. Don't care if it's for 1st or for 21st.
Look forward to seeing you on the track.

Hey guys,
I could almost copy & paste Matt's post - I participated in a few seasons of GTL here, but lost touch with it when XGN went down. I did try iRacing in the interim, but found that I couldn't really commit enough time to it.
I decided to check out XGN a few days ago on a whim and was glad to see that a lot of familiar faces were around, and that the community was still alive and kicking.
Hopefully I'll see you all on track for the start of the season. :)

short, bald, grey beard, 50.
Got into sim racing with Toca.
Ventured online not long after GTR1 came out.
Heaps of good racing at v8league and later mumnfats. Mini 7's at GBGTL.
Ran Hulme sim racing for a while but when the grid dropped to sod all, I got the fukits, sold up and shot thru on my yacht for a 2 yr break.
Raced a Yam RD350 briefly at Puke late 70's, crapped off good coming over the hill, way too sore to continue.
Spent a fair bit of time under the bonnet of Mini "22" and a P76 powered RX7 hillclimb car.
I don't like to practice too much now, just grin and bear it, and if the car still runs, never give up.

Unfortunately XGN only caters for Australian and New Zealand Racers. To race close without incident requires a low ping. Unless you can race on the server with a constant ping of lower than 100-150 I'm not sure we would be able to accommodate you. But by all means contact Crash via PM and he might be able to hook you up with a test so see what you ping like on our servers.

so ... I'm a Kiwi, mid-40s, been sim-racing from 10? years ago, started with EA Sports Car GT off-line, IIRC using a Celeron 400 with Voodoo2 8MB video card, single-axis Dexxa plastic wheel.
Had GPL for a couple of years before upgrading PC enough to run it, using MS Sidewinder wheel. Discovered on-line racing about the time GPL 65 mod came out. Raced with NZ league then with OzRacers, then for a while with MelbourneGPL. Was admin for a GPL league at KiwiSimRacing for a couple of years. Then moved across to rF, again admin for several KSR leagues. (KSR racing forum here: http://www.kiwisimracing.net.nz/forum/viewforum.php?f=4). Now using G25 + Obutto frame / seat.
Love the HistorX mod, have run a TC-65 league and a GTC-76 league at KSR. Both times we included a 1 hr Ring enduro which was a challenge! Also enjoyed a recent KSR enduro series using the WSC70 mod, running 1.2 and 2.4 hr races (e.g. 24hr Le Mans at 10 x time scale).
In RL I am a fan of Italian motors, have owned Fiat and Lancia in the past, currently have an Alfa and a smallframe Vespa (and a boring family wagon).

Hi,
I've been racing at XGN since the start of the V8 Supercar series earlier this year.
I'm a 23yo kiwi that has a nice shiny new G27 wheel. I'm a computer technician and have an evil sense of humor.
I've missed a few weeks racing due to a shoulder injury. I'm happy to say it has healed and I'm back.
I'll be enduring the torments of the HistoriX racing and having a thrash at everything in the Saturday factor and V8 threads.
See you all on track.

No worries m8. It takes me a while to find my way around a new forum, I've only just found how to set email notifications so I can keep an eye on the threads I post in.

g´day from Finland. Jouni´s the name (Yo-kne) but was called "John" back in the 60s when i lived in Sydney, Old Guildford. We came back to Finland in 68, since then got married in 74, we got 3 kids and the youngest has made us Grandparents, so im ok with the Grandpa title if you like. Ive taken a year off work to rock the little girl on my rocking chair, but while she´s at her home im fine to do some online racing with you guys.
Signed up for season 10 as old 60-70 cars are my passion. The day times (round midday) for me are just great right after breakfast. Only possable problem (might) be the distance/ping to your server. Yesterday test showed 370 ping. If its a problem, i will bail out as dont wanna spoil you guys fun.
Ive raced online since Nascar 2k3 and i think Glen73 was a member of WRRacing back then, and think we raced together (trucks) back then. I got rF right when it was released and have been racing online all this time. WRRacing is best known for Caterham league racing.
anyway, signed up and ready for season 10, hope the net distance dosnt cause problems, ready to go and hope to cya on track. Will also tune into TS to brush up my fading aussie accent.

Hi and welcome to the forum. I hope that you are able to race with us and that your ping doesn't cause too much hassle. Its a great fair league and i am sure you will enjoy racing here.
Hi
Barry from Townsville here. I was introduced to this site by Bruce (flattop) after buying a Fanatec wheel off him on Ebay last weekend. I haven't raced online for years - since the days of Dirt Track Racing and DTR Sprint Cars in the early naughties. I mainly race offline - main aim is to beat myself hehe. Anyways, thought I might give the End of An Era Series a go. Sounds like a lot of fun. Hope to catch up with you soon. Also, haven't posted in a forum for a long time, so my apologies in advance if I haven't got this quite right.

Hi Barry and welcome to XGN. I am sure you will find some fun, friendly and fair racing here :) Make sure to follow the links and sign up for Season 10 at the SLS site. Let me know if you have any issues or questions. Other than we will see you on track.
G'day mate. Sounds like my kind of people and racing, looking forward to having some fun. Got one question for you - how do I know which server to log on to, and the password?? I have signed up for Season 10, and selected my car, but I can't seem to find anything about actually connecting to the server. Any help would be appreciated.
Taa muchly
All good-found it. I swear it wasn't there before - truly.

Hola Bazz,
pleased to see your intro and the group suits your intentions. There is plenty of clean fun racing here, it caters for all levels, even mine.
As Auspacer said, any trouble just ask, there are many here who will assist. Get a little practice in and it will be good to see you on the track asap...
Cheers.
Heya flattop
Yeah, sounds like a really fun place to be. Looking forward to seeing you on the track. Logged onto the server last night just to check out how it all works, so that's one step in the learning curve :)
Welcome to Wednesday nights mate.
