Okay so far you (everyone here) has had little opportunity to put in their 2d worth so here is you chance, please post away I will do my best to keep track of the ideas and will create polls where they may be needed.
This is "OUR" racing site, we ALL make it, let's all have a say and have FUN!
What cars?
Which tracks?
How many weeks?
How long a break between race seasons?
One make?
One car for season?
Handicap car selection?

I don't like having problems without a solution, but I think perhaps there needs to be a small amount of regulation to make it a bit easier for those of us whom can't afford $300 for a G25 or are just plain not as good as the others. I am enjoying it and am pretty happy where I am in the middle of the pack, but it would be nice to be in with some sort of a chance.
I won't win the series and neither will Sprinterboy due to our work roster, but it all makes a difference.
But its great to see everyone treating others with respect on the track and it makes a lot more enjoyable to just race regardless of positions.
Any ideas/thoughts?

I can't answer this one, sorry, I have spent most of my time in sim racing at the back, but I still enjoy it.
Edit:
Just found a possible solution while editing the leading post:
Handicap car selection: the more you win the slower the car and vice a versa
(personally I like : "Alien car drivers must only use reverse!")

I'm happy to race and finish where ever. I can't afford a G25 nor a fancy setup but seeing I'm placing mid pack now I figure I'm not doing to bad. Plus I'll trail the joystick combo and see if that helps. After all, It is just a game.

How about a "period tour" all the tracks from the era...
No frivolous safety enhancements, no stupid chicanes, no runoff :fear:

Fair enough, just thought I would throw it out there, won't stop me from racing and having fun.

Maybe 1 idea would be to award Class victories, like the good old days around bathurst with the V8's lapping RX-3's and celicas.
It is always going to be difficult evening up a field, and to be honest, not beneficial to anybody. The sprint nature of these races also favours the big cars, not enough time to damage tyres or run out of fuel.
In GTR2 there is a weight handicap provision whereas weight could be added to the top performing cars, is anything like this available in rFactor?
I think car selection is the key to races, one make series would be interesting.
But as Scott said, it doesn't matter where you come as long as you had a good time.

Yer Rpo you can add weight.

Of course, now i must say this is an option i don't endorse. :heh:

I guess the idea behind my saying it was that it would make for closer racing. If anyone followed F1 during the Schumacher period, you most likely would have found yourself getting very bored with him winning nearly every race. Same idea, not that i'm having a go at anyone, nor do I raise it as a serious issue, just throwing ideas out there to maybe even the field out a little more or the idea of a different class.
There was recently a series (real series) setup using peoples lap times as a class dictating system, rather than based on what your vehicle in theory should be able to do, maybe thats an idea.
Or maybe I should just shut up and just keep having fun how it is now. :D

Adding weight to the quicker drivers i have done it before in another league, the league was split on this as some just wanted to practise to be as good and have something to aim for while others wanted an even field. While the chance of victory for everyone sounds exciting it can also cause kaos, with inexperienced drivers finding themselves up the front making bold moves that can cause big crashes and the rest of the field can suffer.
What i can do however is run a rookie cup where a selected group of drivers (rookies) are the only ones running for the rookie championship. We can also have team championships aswell. Thinking of calling it "Bruces Cup" not because he is a rookie but going off his name and his contributions to XGN sim racing.
Over to you guys :)

Haha this must be my winning streak in my '15 minutes of fame'! I think the "ROOKie Cup" is more closely associated with my driving skills and the "Bruce Cup" with finally after all the years, winning a "Cup"!
In all seriousness I will leaving the naming to others, I have been a little "dictatorial" of late with cars tracks etc...
Lovely thought, thanks Glen...
maybe the "FJ Cup" or the "Kubic Cup"? (sorry, couldn't help myself)

Sorry for being quiet lately but have been having major Computer probs lately, nearly finished reinstalling Windows, then might have to reactivate Rfactor again. Hopefully back to normal soon.

Look like an accident waiting to happen... I love it :)
Seriously, never driven it, but how can a track that uses hay bails for catch fences be bad i ask you? (note: Rhetorical question.....) :bounce:

Cadwell park another good track, ran there in Mini Coopers (new ones) in Race 07 last Sunday night, a good period track.

Just about everyone who has run on Cadwell likes it, we used here for season one and with the correct combo of cars would produce some good tight racing.
Certainly fits the 'no run off, no armco' brief too.

I have a great idea for next season
For every second quicker you are than the last person on the grid in qualy you have to have a shot of vodka
Then every lap you lead in the race you have a shot aswell.
Now that should slow some of the young guns down (and probably a few older ones aswel lol)

LOL Ash
S1=TC65's
S2=GTC65
S3, my natural progression would be.....GTC76
Even up the field by,
Front runners pick one car for Season 3 and thats it while the mid runners can change halfway mark and back runners can pick which ever car they feel suits the track best :) Front runners determined by finishing results of S1+2 (so that puts you in bruce lol) :Banane31:

Just an observation:
After just reading some comments, I reckon to make the next season the most enjoyable, is as already suggested by Glen to have 2 different classes, not based on vehicles, but another means. Us slower guys are obviously taking some of the fun out of it for the aliens and we are all here to have fun, so rather than them having to tangle with us all the time etc, have the 2 seperate classes and it gives everyone a chance at placing and keeps a realistic approach to racing. It would still make for close racing, but will no doubt in end with 2 seperate groups like usual.
Once again I am presenting problem with no solution, but would anyone disagree and does anyone have any ideas on how to make that work, like some of the more experienced guys?

I like the idea but the prob is when we are racing and the faster guys catch the 2nd class. it will cause problems cause if they spin trying to get pass a slower car all hell is gonna break lose. same goes with if the faster car spins the slower car trying to get pass.
Just my thoughts

This happens anyway, either due to just that much faster in a race distance or through pitting, at least in HistorX we get a blue flag in the Heads Up, we maintian our line until safe to use the "go left" of 'go right' signals.
