View Full Version : Substitute Drivers Thread: Season 9

Webby

Hi Guys

The purpose of the Substitute Drivers thread is for Dev League drivers to register their interest in racing in particular Champ League Race. This is only available to Dev League drivers who are currently in the Top 8 of the Dev League Championship (and due to us starting a new season here, Dev League Drivers who finished in the Top 8 of the Dev League last season).

All you have to do is post a reply here with the following information:

Driver: Driver Name
Round: Round Number
Team: Team You Are Looking To Sub For

This does not gaurantee you entry onto the grid, but, if slots are available on the night, then a starting spot will be granted in order of who nominated themselves first. If you don't know what team you're looking to sub and are just looking for any old drive, just put "any" as the team of choice.

This is a seperate system to the Test & Reserve Driver system, but remember that Test & Reserve drivers get first pick of the teams they are chosen to represent in the event of an absence.

Chris, as a rule, we don't let Champ drivers drive Dev, so I don't know if you'll be able to race.

Chris, as a rule, we don't let Champ drivers drive Dev, so I don't know if you'll be able to race.

I thought this was the rule.....

Drivers in the Development Series may source replacements from anywhere outside of the
top 8 in the F1A Championship standings. Substitutes for the Development Series may also
be sourced from outside the F1A league so long as these drivers fit locale and internet speed
requirements. Temporary drivers may be subject to a test session in the F1A Server to ensure they understand the rules before the race.

Drivers outside the top 8 of the F1A Championship Series may race in the F1A Development
Series only if they are legitimately unable to race in a F1A Championship race. This is subject
to seat availability for the F1A Development Series.

Subject to admin approval, because for us we have to make sure it's not going to impact on that championship. By definition, Champ League drivers are faster than Dev League drivers. No one from Dev would be capable of going into the Championship series and challenging for podiums and wins. And yet, reverse that situation and Champ drivers are more than capable of winning Dev races purely because the pace is like one and half to two seconds slower. Therefore, it really does stand to reason that it could effect the result of the Championship.

So we have to make assessment and make a call keeping these things in mind.

Well can that be made quickly? I am going out in the next half an hour and wont be home till an hour before the qual. I would like to know if I am racing or not before I leave, otherwise I won't rush home.

Seems like you are making this hard for me Webby. I would have thought more drivers on the grid at any race would be a good thing. I fulfil every requirement to race tonight. It also seems a little unfair that you are able to run in every race we have here as long as you stay in the top eight of the dev league. Dev league drivers are able to have an affect on my races, some which are quite fast like you and Zvook. Again seems unfair I am not able to be involved in your races. Of course I will affect the outcome, but it just seems ridiculous to exclude me on that basis.

For what it's worth I think I will be way off the pace tonight anyway. I just want to race, that’s why I contribute to this league.

Chris, I'm not making this deliberately hard for you, I'm looking out for the best interest of the series, which as an Admin, is my job. So please don;t make this out like I'm being difficult, because it's not the case, because it's better for me to have this discussion with you here now, then argue about it on the server later on.

But, you know what? Last thing we need is an argument. Race tonight, have fun.

Maybe you need to ease off a bit on the whole control thing. I'd say thanks but since it seems like you are letting me race on bad terms you can stick it.

It's not a control thing, look, Chris, Champ League drivers racing Dev is not something that happens often at all - so it's not something that there is a standard understanding on - my first post where I noted "I don't know" was because it would need to be decided by f15active if it was OK, and because I knew he wasn't online, I just made a quick note of it so that you didn't show up tonight and be like "wait, what?" if the question was raised by him. I'm sure it would have been OK, you've been allowed to do it before, all I was noting was that it would need to be approved, but not by me, by f15.

And it's not on bad terms at all, and it will still need to be OK'd by f15, maybe I was a little sarcastic, but seriously, we're amongst friends here I thought? Obviously not.

FYI

1.6a Temporary Replacements
Temporary driver changes between teams within the F1A Championship are not allowed, although teams are allowed to source other drivers to substitute for them if they are unable to attend. The driver selected must be in the current top 8 drivers in the F1A Development Series point standings.

Drivers in the top 8 of the F1A Development Series point standings may declare their availability to race on the forum in the lead up to the F1A Championship race and are assigned to vacant seats when and if they become available.

Drivers in the Development Series may source replacements from anywhere outside of the top 8 in the F1A Championship standings. Substitutes for the Development Series may also be sourced from outside the F1A league so long as these drivers fit locale and internet speed requirements. Temporary drivers may be subject to a test session in the F1A Server to ensure they understand the rules before the race.

Drivers outside the top 8 of the F1A Championship Series may race in the F1A Development Series only if they are legitimately unable to race in a F1A Championship race. This is subject to seat availability for the F1A Development Series.

f15active

You would need to be registered in order to do that. Dev League drivers could technically source replacements from outside the registered drivers list like yourself currently, but you are also still in the top 8 for Champ points...so it will come down to whether you're still top 8 by Valencia.
