Any reason to upgrade from a perfectly good G25?

I remember it had a few improvements in the motors and so on... don't think I'll be shelling out but there must be peeps here without a G25 ready to grab the new model?

u can also move the foot part on the pedals left and right so u can set it up for heel toe...and the break pedal is closer to u then the accelerator so u can heel toe.

Quick answer: nope

Longer answer: Depends if you want a 4 extra buttons on the wheel without modding, or the minor pedal changes, or maybe your G25 is getting worn out.. or.. maybe your missus is asking what you want for a christmas present :biggrin1:

Beware no sequential shift option with the G27..

I still don't understand why Logitech didn't make the G25 shifter compatible with the G27 wheel.

That will be the one and only reason why I won't be buying a G27...

yea, i do like racing games ect, but i dont really see the reason to pay 3 weeks of my income to a racing wheel, in that same time frame i can be saving for my next car and go do it irl

all it will take is a decent coder to do it for you, unless they connect differently mechanically

You can buy a mod, for your pedals which costs like $40 to do exactly that.

Frankly I only used the tiptronic for the sake of trying it, and when I raced V8 Supercars I used the paddles as suggested by the other guys. With HistorX league and pretty well all my mucking around I use the full H-pattern, I can heel-toe fine, and I generally use the clutch too. Probably 2 seconds a lap slower because of it, but its more real that way.

Do the extra buttons on the wheel replace the ones on the shifter, or add more buttons in total? Be worth seeing how smooth the FF motors are, see if its still notchy at all. Good call on the Xmas wishlist idea!

im just waiting for the airforce to pull there finger out so i can get 40k a year for a 1st yr apprentice.

Look, to be honest glen is right.

Think about it this way, you buy a G25/27 and you can go drive anything you want.

Real life, you go buy a track car, your looking at about 3 track days per set of tyres if you want to run semi slicks. Maybe $500 a corner at 17 inch. (i know 18's x 285wide are around $780 per corner for Dunlop R Compounds).

If you just do track days youre looking at probably a minimum of $100 per day to attend (my last one was $150), the cheaper ones tend to have more cars.

Plus most of them as for some form a license now (I spent a day at Winton in May and they made me buy a Australian Auto Sport License which they didnt even bother checking for).

Then petrol costs, I used about 180lites in one day including driving up and back from Melbourne. There is another $180.

When you break it all down its not cheap at all.

Personally I think the G25 I bought was worth every penny. And has provided some great entertainment.

Having said that I still itch for the real thing. And am looking at getting into karting instead of getting a track car, at least for the moment.

from Fluidtek (http://www.fluidtek.com.au/)

Speaking of tyres and club cars etc....

I just put new rubber on my Z getting ready for track days, took it to a club day yesterday and its running smooth. I wanted real semi's but the $400 a corner stopped me. I ended up with a softer compound road tyre. Got the 200k's into them quick smart to get rid of the factory wax/silicon and at this stage they feel good.

Hopefully matt will get his SP2 licence as well so we can head out for some track days together.

thanks paul for putting that into perspective.

when you say $500 a corner, are you talking about $500 per tyre or for each corner of the track?

Well, I might go against the flow abit by saying I'm thinking of buying a Fantech Porsche Turbo wheel for the PC and 360 since the Xbox doesn't support the G25.

Yeh if you want to use it on xbox360 then the fanatech is definatly the better wheel to get.

I use my G25 for the PC and PS3. (although im thinking of getting another g25 for the ps3 since i have modded my pc one).
