View Full Version : DDS to PSD for TCL

I'm having issues creating a .PSD file from the TCL skin templates.

I have a Mac with Photoshop CS4. This can't load a DDS file (only works on a mac).

I have a PC with Photoshop 5.5. I have installed the Nvidia DDS plugin. This gives an error when opening a DDS file (saying that this plugin can't run with photoshop v3)

I have installed the latest Gimp on both Mac and PC and using the Gimp DDS loading plugin. This loads the Rover DDS file (I've tried the load Mipmap option and not) but all I see in the Layers list (in the GIMP) is Main surface then the list of smaller mipmaps.

I assume that the skins would contain multi-layered data a little like Historix.

Any ideas? Have I missed reading some web tutorial?
If this sounds like rubbish I might need someone to send some PSD files (I'm tossing up between using the Rover, BMW or something small like the escort turbo).

James, this is where to get the Skin templates from

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?r4m0jgzzjzj

That's what I used, edit the psd how you like, then flatten it,then save as a dds file.
Here is a link to a very comprehensive tutorial, helped me heaps.

Thanks a lot for that Imp. The problem that I had was that I downloaded from rfactorcentral 6 200Mb files that contained the skins in DDS and VEH form but that obviously the were not template files. I'll know that next time.
I'll check out that tutorial if I get stuck painting.
