Oh yeah. Me likey likey.
Both cars and track are brilliant and surprisingly easy to get a 911 around this one. Getting it round quickly could prove a little more tricky.
Can't wait for the 20 plus grid at this one! :high5:

That is Fast Glen, well done...
I don't think i'll get down to that. Can lap very comfortably at 1:41's-1:42's
I might have to work on a fast qualifying setup cuz passing here is going to be hell in these things :fear:

I don't think i'll get down to that.
Did i mention i went through the tyre chicane sideways :faint2:
Changed brake bias to 58, shortest gears and max revs, i thought about changing some stuff but i tend to make things worse :suspicious:
Should be a cracker race though and cant wait!
On another note...
Jiminee had an idea about taking on some team-mates, the experienced sim racers adopting a new guy each. Not so much to get them to go fast but more just to get them used to rfactor and simracing in general and just answering any questions in general.
Thoughts.

I've done that in the past, and i am helping DmX at the moment (and in the past with GTL....... but watch him he has a habit of posting videos!) :fear:.
In most cases it is a matter of asking new racers to slow down into corners, and showing them correct track position and corner entry points.
I enjoy helping, the more competitive drivers we have, the better the league.
I wonder whether it is worth getting everyone to introduce themselves in a season 2 thread, and tell what their experience is and what controls they are using. Looks like the numbers are going to be great for season 2 :bananapartyhat:
rFactor is fantastic how you can easily send setups to people, it makes it easier. I'm available to help, if anyone would like some assistance how should we organise it??

Here is a vid i did for an xgn race for GTL.

Unfortunatly its not racing related but to give you guys an idea of what kind of stuff i can do its nothing special thou.
On another note i have found Rpo very helpfull when i 1st joined GTL and now historyx always goes out of his way and above and beyond to help new guys. Not saying that everyone else isnt but he did take alot of time to show me some tips and finer parts of racing.

Hi Guys
I'm really getting frustrated here, any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm using a G25 and this all started when i was having real trouble getting the porsche thru corners, back end locks up and around she goes at that point i was down shifting (using paddles on wheel) and breaking together, decided the downshift was creating compression lockup so brakes only going into corner, downshift on the exit still very unstable following other Porsches into a corner i'd break way earlier than the other car no smoke in rear view mirror just using light pressure she'd just step out sideways and sail straight ahead. Anyway Glen suggested i should go with throttle blip in upgrades, went in reset to throttle blip went back and tried to remap the H pattern to First, Second, Third etc, but I can only get First and second gear set, when i go to gate 3 it says B12 being used by 1st gear same with 5th gear gate 5 says B12 being used by 1st gear,Tottally frustrated i reverted back to the sequential paddles , re mapped everything, go to car in pit garage press accelarotor works beautifully tacho spins freely select first gear with paddle 1st gear displays on tacho press throttle but it just continues to free rev no drive, have remapped sevral times with same result. I'm in need of help please...
Any Ideas. Thnx DaveG

Can we have some clarification as to which 911,s we can use.As rpo83 has pointed out there are 2.4 litre cars,(although I havent found it yet) and 2.0 litre cars@175hp, and a 24hr car @180hp. Can we use anyone we like or only the 2.0 litre cars

@ G use anyone you like, GTC76 is in the 2006 folder

So what your saying is now while the car is in 1st gear you are going know where? Make sure your wheel is configured properly in windows. sounds like the clutch is on permantly.

Dave'o, make sure you havent got gears mapped to your shifter AND the paddles mapped to change up/down at the same time, and check you havent left the shifter in gear.

Dust is very bad for heat, i blow mine out every 3-4 months. I have seen some very bad computers where the dust is so bad it's extremley thick and they wonder why there powersupply died.

In 'the olden days' of GTL here, turn one carnage was the only place I overtook any one! :bananapartyhat:
So far this hasn't happened (either events), we will have to be on our best behavoir, as you said, 25+ cars and that long straight from the grid to turn one...

OK further to this I have managed to sort out part of the problem I can now use the steering wheel paddles to shift up and down, seems the problem was in mapping, I checked everything to find that the clutch had been allocated a button (not sure how, I must of done it accidentally) anyway set clutch to empty reallocated up & down to the paddles and it worked, but even with all other shifting options set to empty I still can't allocate 1st,2nd,3rd etc to the H pattern

Hi Ash
What do you put the improvement down to change driving style, later braking, cleaner lines, what's the secret ????.

Hi dave
the main thing was I had the 2 pedal paddle shift option switched on and the auto clutch off. This caused the car to be really unstable in the braking area. so now I have the auto clutch on its much better in the braking zones.
Then I polished up my driving :)

yep its critical to get the right setup in upgrades to match what you are actually using.

just couldn't figure it out last night.........consistent high 43's.... but still 3 secs off the pace........ ahhh!!! damn pissy 2.0 litre jobby..... :ohwell:
Tonight I had the right car and I have managed to clock in a low 1:39.1.
Tires still not warm enough though after 1/2 a tank of laps .... hmmm
don't you just love that last chicane tho?......:crutch:
EDIT: probably nothing wrong with tire temps...........i'm just used to driving modern GT's......... :)

well i posted last night a 1:42.400 which is about as good as iam going to get i think without any slipstreaming... still a very respectable time i think. So watch out i might just hitch a ride behind someone :D
I seem to be able to run low 1:43's consistantly so i should be able to get a resonable placing providing i dont (A) crash (B) Run out of fuel and get a reasonable qual time as these are sprint races pitstops ect ect wont come in to it.
that chicane coming off the back straight seems to be a lil tricky if i try for late braking the car goes into the corner very unsettled and loose if i brake a lil earlier i seem to be able to settle the back end much more.
Oh Btw: TURN 1 SUCKS!
BJSRacer
01-10-2008, 07:05 PM
I have found that if you keep it along the left edge of the road in the tire marks, braking is much better. Go inside line and/or turn in early and you are a likely candidate for a massive lockup.....
