Looks really impressive, I'd buy that too! Have always wanted to get into flight sims. What hardware do you need, is a decent joystick sufficient?

I'm just one of those that loves things for FREE! It appears to be a few years old, but who knows, when some rainy day...
Just need to concentrate on learning some flying skills, rather than by the seat of the pants (ahh an old fighter pilot jargon!)... I have the most trouble getting out of a stall, but all to frequently get in to one easily haha

That is disapointing , online and/or single player ?
The whole game is bad.
Here's a taste of what other peeps are posting.
Ashame. I was looking forward to buying this game too. Hopefully they are able to fix the problem. I don't really care who's at fault for the performance issues, though it seems to me FF makes a perfectly valid point with the Hawx2 video. How come that game is full of explosions, flashes, ect and it doesn't have the FPS issue CoD has despite also being required to run with the filter. Furthermore, I thought it was extremely odd that 1C wasn't posting new videos everywhere to hype the long awaited spiritual successor to IL-2. Now we know why.
I take no pleasure in the game being shipped in such a poor state. But it is what it is. I have a fairly decent rig and maybe could run it ok, but that's not really the point. While I don't expect to agree with every aspect of how the Devs handled things in a game, basic performance issues out of the box is, for me personally, a non-starter. Hopefully they get it fixed and I'll be happy to part with my hard earned cash then. But honestly, to me 1C should have postponed the game until it was ready. The reviews will be crushingly unkind and what might be a fine product 3 to 6 months from now is going to suffer from a terrible first impression that will be hard to shake. I can see the review headlines now:
"Experience exciting 128 player air battles...at 6 FPS"
"Battle of Brittain: Slideshow Edition"
"What a flight sim should look like...running on a netbook"
"If Myst were a WWII Flight Sim" (only you older folks like me might get that one)
Whatever. It's sad to see years of work get released in this condition. I sincerely hope they get it straightened out. Preferably before the American release date. In a twisted sort of way though, we can think of this as an ironic sort of revenge by people who do unfortunately suffer from the terrible affliction of epilepsi.
Now, for once, it's all of us having a seizure instead of them.

Mystifies me how developers can releases titles with clear performance issues, particularly a simulator!
They should be charged with selling products under false pretences.

It's a shame.... will hold off for patches.
While perusing the 1C Maddox forums tho, I read somewhere that the next week or two could bring some patching, with a doubling in frame rates....
Mr Fox
03-04-2011, 01:00 PM
Yer but why didnt they just wait 1 or 2 weeks and then release it. It is just a waste a space on my HD right now. You cant even play it. I mean i'm no hard core flight sim person but if i was I would be so peed off right now. Geeez a bad a game will be a bit buggy in some area's but overall you can still play, this game you cant even play it, yes its that bad it is unplayable. As the above guy said first impressions/reviews can be extremely damaging to the game itself. I wont even bother to hit the exe on this rubbish until I read peeeps can play it after patches. Man it just annoys me so much that they would release this as a game that works. I would rate it at V0.00001 Beta stage right now. I feel I should charge UBiSoft with storage space rent on my HD. ARRRRRRRRRRggggghhhhhhhhhhh!

Disappointed here too, will wait but in the mean time I will find some one to send a message of complaint to, they need everyone to voice their appointment.
ps Glen when it is fixed, I would like o book some helpline time to configure the joystick.

Hi Bruce, my config wont be any good to you. Now, I could'nt configure my joystick in V1, but after patch I configured rather easily. Also yes patch through steam. Only 50 meg iirc.
When running go straight to mission, dont worry about the training missions. Look closely when picking as the first handful of mission are site seeing with no action.
