September 2006.
As all of us were just coming to terms with the death of Steve Irwin, we were then dealt with more tragic news.
Peter Brock, Killed in rally accident. At first I didn't believe it when someone told me at work. I just said
to them, "pull your head in mate, not funny after Steve", then i continued on and drove my bus until I overheard
passengers talking about it. I was utterly destroyed for the rest of the day and am still unsure how I managed
to finish my shift.
It is due to him that today I am here writing this. Without him, I don't know if I would of had the interest in
racing that I do. Finally now, that I am Admin for this series, I have the chance to pay homage to my fallen hero.
Everyone knows I am not the fastest racer around, so I quite often don't get to play with the fast guys at the front.
But those of you that have had a battle with me know I play hard but fair. I don't want to win if I can't do it fairly.
That has come directly from Brock's style.
This isn't all about the man Allan Moffat call's Peter. There have been other's too. Bathurst 86, Denny Hulme, Mark porter
and the list goes on. This race is to thank all fallen drivers that put all on the line in pursuit of this sport.
Anyhow, I can almost hear the man himself telling me to shutup and go give it a "red hot go"
