He had a Wally shaped dent on his rear bumper at the end of Conrod before I disco'd. He was 6th I think. You can check it out on the live server viewer http://simraceway.com.au/index.php?option=com_wrapper&view=wrapper&Itemid=2

Wally26 was doing great, until I got a spike and lost rfactor.
Then Crash let me take a late Daveo's car out.
Was in second position and holding fort against 3rd and 1st. lap 25 Dave showed up, ready to pit for him to take over and wham rfactor froze on me.
Dave, it was probably my fault for not rebooting before i took over your car, I am so sorry mate, you could of won that..

Well.. Slacker and I blew up the Falcon's engine (straight after I did my stint!)... bummer had a good lead too :frusty:

So I took over Nineten's falcon to give hime a break... and blew his engine up too :hurt:

What a race of attrition... I say we need a re-match!

Wow that was great fun. We were going along nicely with scheduled stops on the lead lap. After my second stint i had lost my co-driver lol (Where did you go Bruce) after that ran an extra few laps and went to change to Daveo for a spell when it all went pear shaped in the changeover and we were out. 35ish laps in. On course for a top 5 i think. anyway had a blast and i'm in next week for sure.

Awesome job Imp. Very well done on first. First time a solo driver has won an enduro too!!

Great job Paul & Loose Tappet on second. Shame you had an off on the second last lap Chop. You were catching Imp very fast. Would have been a great finish.

Also well done to humper on third. OS-Mike fourth and Cal/chipper on fifth.

Well I wasn't going to race but thought i'd see how I go. Had done no laps before tonight & got about 6 or so in before the start of the race. Thanks Crash for your setup.

Started well in 10th and made it up to 6th by the end of mountain straight. Had a good little battle with OS-Mike for a couple of laps until I was able to make the pass stick. After the first pit I caught up to Crash in Daveo's torry, Paul & Imp who were all pretty close. Paul & Imp had a coming together coming onto the main straight both spinning. I had no where to go and T-boned Imp. Sorry mate. Luckily I washed off a bit of speed & damage wasn't too bad.

I got into 2nd for a while before the second stop and took the opportunity to go to the loo during the stop. Cost me 15 sec but felt a lot better lol. Then jumped in & got on the gas to much & sped in pit lane. Got a stop/go but forgot to change my tyres to not change them. 10sec stop/go turned into a 53 sec stop/go with tyres.

From there I just tried to keep it off the walls & see if I could get a top 3 or 4. Was doing ok when Crash/Slacker engine blew but I had no signs of that happening to me. Then Crash was about to have a stint for a while when we noticed smoke. We changed over and Crash done a lap and BANG!!! End of race on lap 35.

Was a long but great race. Well done to everyone that finished. Hopefully the Falcons can finish next weeks race lol.

I'll do up some overall points tomorrow for both the sprints and the enduro, but it's obvious who the official, XGN "King of the Mountain" is..

with a 2nd place overall in the sprint round, and an overall win tonight, in a solo effort nonetheless -

The XGN King of the Mountain is......... Imperious

Awesome job mate, well deserved - clever strategy and great driving!

KING OF THE MOUNTAIN here for a quick report.

Awesome racing everyone, I wasn't expecting to Win this, especially as there were many faster than me.
But as I found out speed wasn't the key to winning, it was more about looking after the tyres and being consistent.

Anyway, will continue this tomorrow

Bad luck to all with technical issues, that really sucks.
BTW, I have everything overclocked i5 750@3.8 ATI 5850 also overclocked, no probs, must just be lucky, computer is solid as a rock stable.

Points are updated on simraceway :bananapartyhat:

Unfortunately there's no points tool I know of that works properly when driver swapping is used so you will see I did a "2nd driver points add-on" to give the drivers who swapped their points, Auspacer Daveo555 & Flattop all received the 36 points for the Charger 14D car in the race.

The other drivers to get add-on points are myself - 34 points as per Slacker's points, and Paul Keeghan - 62 points as per Loose Tappet's points.

If I missed anyone let me know :fear:

I also linked in the race results system I use normally for a driver swap event which shows when swaps have taken place and % of race driven by each driver..

Since really only Loose Tappet and Paul Keeghan finished the race as planned with their car intact & with the original pairing it's good to see they did very close to half race distance each!

I lost connection 3 times the last time was terminal!

Sorry Auspacer, I was happily standing watching 'the big screen' as you started out on your second stint and ....
Then reconnected thinking all okay only too... AGAIN, we had had a couple of power flickers just as I was initially connecting when I got home but didn't think too much about it, may have been connected?

Sitting in as spectator for the first season was very exciting and had me nervously waiting for my turn, worried about doing some damage and ruining my partner's and my race, but with the smooth hand over settled in to do some steady laps and get the car in for the next hand over.
I had OS-Mike on my tail for quite a few laps and decided not to change my driving style or lines and was able to keep Mike at bay taking my race lines until a little wander allowed him to get passed. I was pleased that you didn't disappear off into the distance rapidly.
My lap 8 I missed the change in tyre condition and left some paint up the top of the mountain and slipped and slide the next lap swapping back to Auspacer.

I was looking forward to my next stint, but sorry you had to go solo Auspacer. If you want to take the chance on me again next week, will be happy to try again.

Thanks Aus for organising this and Crash for adim, NEXT WEEK! Kowabunga!

haha Sorry Aus, each time I re-entered I just said "auspacer, bruce here , just got back in" as I knew spectators were not 'announced', tried to type too, but that doesn't work for spectators.

Pleased your willing to have a go next week again, as I was certainly happy with my stint, it felt steady...

Great first lap i think i was up to 6th from about 12th till i got tapped at the chase.

Was that me? I had a spinning Torana behind me and I eased back off the brakes so he didn't collect me. In turn I collected someone else. I'm uncertain if the Torana hit me or not. So sorry for that if it is the incident I am referring too.

I had a shocker in the first part of my stint. Then settled into a rhythm in last position. Fairly lonely old race, but Chipper and I lapped consistently to finish 5th.

Congrats to Imp on the win.

May have been Cal, but no worries there, thats racing! i think your top speed was being effected by your brake coming on and off. I had a few more kph down the straight than you in the same car on the first lap?

You really should get on Vent wally lol :)

When Wally26 had a DNF, he jumped back in as a spectator and took over Daveo's car from me, and when the Slacker/Crash falcon blew up it's engine I tried to give Nineten a break by doing a stint for him...unfortunately that engine blew as well :tape:

I think I have the official "Engine Killer" label after last night :fear:heheh

Anyway there's often someone who's happy to have a toilet break or whatever so you can do a few laps for them if you want to.. much easier to sort out on vent though :)

tried to type too, but that doesn't work for spectators....

I think thats a setting I can change on the server, if so I'll make it so Spectators can also chat next week.. that will also be good for non-vent drivers too so if they want to they can arrange to give someone a toilet break if anyone neeeds it :)

Yeah everyone seemed to just walk past us in a straight line. Perhaps you are correct. I tried to find the deadzone to adjust it and couldn't find it.

IMP'S Report continued..

Jumped on the server about 7.20 for some practise, did a stint to figure out tyre wear and fuel usage. The charger was using about 9-10 litres a lap, so with tyre wear not a factor could probably do 17-18 laps on a full tank, tyres only lasted 9 laps though.
I made some untested changes to my setup before the race which must have helped a bit.

Race start was quite good and led for about 2 laps think, I knew the Ford's would get me later and Slacker got past me at the end of mountain straight.
Then I went wide at the cutting letting Crash and someone else past, might have been Paul.
OS-Mike later had a moment at the last turn and Myself and Nineten had nowhere to go.
After that Mike seemed to be having handling issues, strangely enough my car seemed unaffected.

I had realised during prac that keeping the tyres from getting hot (under 95C) was the key to their longevity, so tried hard
not to oversteer it in the corners and brake/accelerate gently where possible.
Pitted lap 11 and had to do at least one 12 lap stint to make it to 45 laps.
I figured I was better having a few slow laps than pitting 4 times.
During the race had a bit of a dice with Humper and Paul (or whoever was driving at the time), Humper had a few moments,
I got past Him, then He repassed me, overall I was quicker but not much.
Pauls car had some major incidents, especially one before the dipper where He spun it, somehow ending up
facing the right way and stayed ahead, freaked me a bit though, like Webber at the end of the Monaco race the
other night.

No amazing strategy really, just look after the car as best as possible, no major off's anywhere, at least none
that cost me much time.
Can't remember what lap it was, but after the last pistop and a few laps later Paul came out not too far behind,
so I knew it would be touch and go by the end.
As it was the gap stayed much the same, especially after Paul's off 2nd last lap, so that mean't I could take
it easy last lap, which I did to bring it home for my 2nd ever Win.

Thanks Crash and others who helped with admin stuff, awesome race, looking forward to the
re-match next week.
Bad luck again to those who suffered tech problems, engine blowups, etc.

Yep Cal,
while spectator I clearly saw your stop lamps on often, not just flashing and on one occasion yourself and another Val exited the main straight with approx the same speed, but you just couldn't match the acceleration. I think this may have held you back last season too in hind sight as I had noted your Elan's lights flashing and just thought you may have been a 'brake rider'...

Crash
20-05-2010, 01:32 PM
I started the race in Daveo's torana, knowing he couldn't make race start time.. did 2 stints (20 laps) in that wondering if Daveo was ever going to turn up lol

OS-Mike later had a moment at the last turn and Myself and Nineten had nowhere to go.

I haven't checked the replay, but I'm pretty sure I caused that , I was still getting used to Daveo's Torana after doing basically all my practice in the falcon, I misjudged the braking into the final corner.. I think I was automatically using the falcon braking point :tape: which meant I braked way too early and caught OS-Mike by suprise, he then had an off under brakes avoiding me.. sorry OS and anyone else behind that got caught up in it :embarrassed:

Near the end of my 2nd stint in Daveo's car Wally26 had a problem in his car so I asked if he would take over Daveo's torana.. figured if Daveo didn't make it Wally could finish in that, at least it gave me a chance to grab a drink and then take over from Slacker in the leading falcon!

Unfortunately that didn't work out so well for Daevo & Wally as there was an issue with swapping the car over later which is a bummer.

Anyway took over from Slacker on I think lap 22, and had some fun enjoying the sideways power of the falcon after the Torana.. but by lap 28 I noticed smoke billowing out of the rear of the car.
The worst thing was the temperature was normal... so dropping the revs and taking it easy made no difference. I had a sinking feeling the engine was about to give up and not much we could do about it.. handed over to Slacker on lap 30 hoping that it was just a glitch or something and when Slacker took over he reported no smoke.. for a short while, them came back again. only took a few laps after that for it to blow completely :censored:

So thought I'd give Nineten a break after that knowing he was doing it solo and using the same setup as I was so would be a comfortable stint.. after a failed attempt which I worked out was a corrupt setup file, managed to take control of the car.. by that stage though I was noticing smoke coming out of Nineten's falcon as well!

Another blown engine :censored:

Looks like the Falcon's great for getting quick laps, but to last the distance in an endurance the rev's will have to be cut down. This will probably make a difference to laptimes which is a good thing for the racing actually, the falcon is definately faster when you use all the revs :tape:

Well that was a long hard race my first decent race in ages since my g25 broke i caught a cold last weekend so was crook on wed night nug my planned co driver couldnt make it but i thought what the hell ill still do it. Hadnt had any practice since the sprints jumped on the server for a quick prac before the race and went 15 laps in the charger without stopping but only just could have done a two stop race.

Race. Took it easy at the start was going well then started to push a bit and try catch and pass crash i went a bit late under brakes crash went a bit early i locked up trying to avoid him managed to do that just but then spun right in front of two other cars and left them no room sorry about that. Then pushed too hard my tyres got too hot and i had to back right off to make 11 laps out of a set of tyres i pitted then had a good battle with flattop (hes getting faster i swear) couldnt pass him till he had moment. 2nd stint i did 13 laps was ment to do 12 by that stage i was just crusing round trying to finish the race had a good battle with a green torana all my pit stops were stright forward a couple of falcons died ended up in 4th.

Well done Imp king of the mountain.

Im keen for a rematch next week hopefully im over the flu by then.
