Well.
Race 1 heading into the first corner I make a little bit of contact with someone, try to avoid them more, puts me on the inside of the corner on the grass, so instead of coming across and entering at 90 degrees, i come in so i am on the same angle as everyone else, the safe way. I get a stop/go penalty for it, GRRRR. I had forgotten to setup the pits, but at least i remembered to warn them I was coming. So I ended up placing 16th i think, but 2 laps down.
Race 2, I was doing everything i was doing in practise, same lines, same acceleration etc but I just kept spinning out. even when there was no one around, it just wouldn't stay straight. I think I managed 14th.
Still had a bit of fun tho.
Oh and sorry to Dino for getting i your way in the esses, I spun, you didn't though, so it wasn't all bad. :P
Cheers guys

Lots of surprises from this round.
Tuff track to find grip on with all the bumps and I can't believe how much of a handful the elan was. In GTL it was one of the easiest cars to drive but here in makes the 911 seem stable. WTF
Don't know what was going wrong in qual just couldn't squeeze a decent time out of the car.
Race 1 was midfield madness, was surrounded by cars the whole time. If I wasn't applying pressure to the car in front I'd be getting it from behind. Cars loopin off all over the place and my lap times were faster than qual? Must have been the extra fuel. Just about had to go and have a lie down after that one.
Race 2 was more civilised. Seemed like everyone had got it out of the systems and relaxed a little. A lot less in the way of desperate moves or perhaps it was just the company I was keeping. Had to keep a watchful eye on Imperious who seemed to be making great use of the lapped traffic. As I waited for a safe place to squeeze by, check the mirrors and Imperious was right there following me through. I may have caused some nervous times for Imperious with some early braking toward the end as my tires were overheating but managed to hold him off.

I qualified with 15 laps of fuel and jumped between suggested setups and gained 1 second, but it was hard work and oppted for my safe 1:22 setup to ensure a finish.
Got blizter starts in both races picking up places down the straight , but didn't force into the first turns and slipped back.
First time I have ever raced in the close company of Daveo555, (understand why), swapping places too! Had a nice clean overtake on a few occasions on others missfortune.
Had some interesting enterances to turn 2 after not pinning down turn properly, but was pleased with some of my other lines, noting at times gaining on others.
Race 2 was probably more exciting with names line DaveG, Luke being in the mix, and stayed off being lapped unlike race one.
Over all good placings for me out of a field of 19-20.
Good driving on us all with no massive stuff ups in the leading laps.
Thanks for a good nights racing, it is a little hard to manage the Elan, but fun!

Must be getting old.....
I have just spent 15 minutes trying to write a race report, but i couldn't remember who i was dicing with last night :noidea:
So briefly had a great race. I was spent after each race, that was some of the hardest driving i have ever done!
I'll watch the replay tonight when i get home and post a more thorough report
(i'll probably have to take notes though....... I think i'm getting Alzheimers )

Race 1
I rolled at the start and got a drive thru I think ( 2 red arrows top of screen) so next lap into pit lane and there is the red box with the pit crew so I figured it's a drive thru I just drove around them and kept going (at under 60k's) get to pit exit and Stop Go sign appears on the screen next lap around in again pull up in the red box and spent 95 seconds having tyres changed and fuel. Not sure where I went wrong are there instructions anywhere that explain all pit stops and what to do etc, etc. Was still a great night loved that many cars all dicing for position.
Race 2 went much better except I got rolled over at one stage but kept going and turned some reasonable times (for me) and managed to finish although some laps down. Thanks Guys had a ball
really sorry if i caused any mayhem, more practice, more practice
Don't suppose there's any chance we could use the Cortina @ Birmingham instead of the Elan, I just think it handles better less carnage.

I understand your suggestion. Unfortunatley the Cortina is in the wrong class for this series, (fortunetly for me because I can't get to grips with the mighty Cortina, it would probably make Imperious happy).
One of the reasons behind using the same car back to back, is to save time for learning a new track and a new car every week, and still break the cars into groups that are closely matched.
Glen may decide to change from the Elan, I will post your request.

I'm happy with the Elan, It put us all on a level playing field. If I hadn't stuffed the start in the first race I could have had a shot at a top 5 finish. Which doesn't happen to often for me. Plus I am also like Flattop and can't get to grips with the corty

Exactly what he said, actually I LOVE the Elan. Funny how diffrent cars suite different drivers.Couldnt get to grips with the Porsche last week, but this week with no practice was straight on the pace in the Elans. Normally in the same car, I,m 1 to 1.5 secs a lap slower than Glen, but last night very close

well my 2 races wer sorta a bit of an opposite 2 1 another, first race i think i started 9th on the grid and got an alright start, and manage 2 overtake a few people really early then i found some clear space, was 5th and watched the people infront of me dissapear and the people bhind me fade, unfortunatly it didnt remain this way. not sure but about lap 9 or 10 i think, imp and another person, (soz cant remember :p) caught up and after a number of bad corners they both passed me pretty easly, then more bad driving, lol i was about 2 say luck, i was 7th and on the very last lap 2nd corner, absolutly blew it and watched another 2 places slide away. So i started 9th on the grid again.
2nd race i think i got up 2 about 7th on the first lap but then had an early stuff up on the first turn and dropped back 2 about 15th :censored: after this i started 2 run some alright laps with clear track and began making up some ground, luckly for me in the last 2-3 laps people started making mistakes and i got thru and finished 6th.
all on all i was a little angry with my first race knowing that my stuff ups cost me atleast 7th possibly higher but its all practice and experience in the end, after all only my second race ;) look 4ward 2 the next 1 guys, well done all

Well it comes to 8.30 last night, when i see the server in the listing. Then realise i havent install HistoriX on my new machine, DOH!
So i quickly install rfactor lite, and the mod in record time. Also, realfeel, spotter and copy over player files, and controller settings. In about 15mins. Hop into the server and tried to iron out a few little probs. Grab a set from glen and rpo. Loaded up rpos set, and then just as i was about to head out the race started. So i hadnt turned a lap whatso-ever, so i was hoping that the setup and the controller settings were all gonna be ok.
Race1: Started off ok, but made a few mistakes as i was learning everything. Had a good battle with Flattop for a few laps. Unfortuantely i had a CTD, a few laps later. Which also has been happening in my main rfactor install aswell. weird.
Race2: Made a good start and started to pick off a few postions. Got up to about 6th, then fell back. Climbed back up to 7th, but glens setup didnt have enough fuel in it and i had to pit with 2 laps to go. rolled into the pit with 0.1 litres left.
After imperious, rpo and myself had abit of a muck around race. with a couple crazy passing moves that stuck, and other crazy shennigans. lol.
Hope to try do more races now.

Qualifying: Did alright putting myself on the 3rd row for 5th. Im really liking the extended qualifying :)
Race1 i got a good start but to be honest, like RPO i cant remember a bloody thing except for Dino not really moving over. Just a quickie, i know everyone has just as much right to the track when on the same lap but if you are being lapped you should move over at the first "safe" opportunity which dino didnt. I came home quite surprised in second place. I knew that first corner would claim some victims and it looks as though RPO was one of those.
Second race my poor Elan got beaten from pillar to post right throught out the race. The worst being on the last corner where i got punted from behind and then had no say in rear ending someone else from my new second engine implanted in my boot giving me the extra speed. I found it interesting to be amoungst the "ratpak" and much more entertaining for a shortwhile. Then at one stage towrds the end i was staring at the sky textures and completley ran off the track haha what a nob.
Good to see an old friend back in scotty mac and hopefully redwog will join us next week aswell. I will try and find time to add the rookie cup aswell so you guys can really start to try and bring in those valuable points.
until next week.....

Thanks Glen, hopefully next time I can be racing nearer to you, I think you may be too quick for me now.
Well this was my first race in a very long time so I was pretty rusty. Very much a spur of the moment race. I decided at 7.30 I might have a race and turned some laps in the Elan which was my fav in GTL. Car and track felt good so I jumped in to the race.
In the race tried to stay out of trouble which I think I did, only had a few offs, had great fun sorry to the guys I messed up when I spun on the last corner in race 2.

That was awesome racing last night in the Elan's.
Whilst they were very slippery, I found that they responded well to steering and throttle input, so any small and medium mistakes were at least correctible.
Qualified about where I expected, with no chance at all of getting anywhere near 1.17's, my setup had lower tyre pressure, which explained my good grip in corners, but lesser acceleration.
Race 1, spent a lot of time amongst Dmextreme and Humper, eventually got Dmextreme and then a slight tap and DM spun off, sounded a lot worse inthe race than when I viewed the replay, barely nothing at all. Made my way up to 5th until a stupid mistake at turn 1 knocked me back to 8th for the finish.
Race 2, a reasonable start, but went wide at a right hander and dropped back to 11th. Later on got involved in an incident in the final turn, smashing into the side of a sideways Glen73, and thought there's no way I can have no damage, but amazingly all was Good. Then got a bit worried as Glen73 closed in on me, but spun it in T1, pressure off.
Set about chasing Humper, but brought it home just behind Him for 5th.
Was the damage set lower for this race?, as the cars seemed stronger than normal, definitely stronger than at Lemans.

Glad to see you suffered the same affliction as me Glen, mustn't be Alzheimers :Banane31:
Take a seat, this may take a while, just atoning for my brain fade earlier. What a hoot watching the replay, and how is the slow mo option WOW very cool...
Race 1.
Very close qualifying for the top 5 or 6 very happy to be 2nd on the grid. Got a great start and was next to Stain coming into the "bump", but decided to play it safe and backed off. Didn't help much! I saw Stain was running to hot and carrying to much speed and ran wide, i saw my opportunity and hit the gas, only to loop it and end up in the infield :ohwell:
Entered back in 17th, great start.... the red mist had descended and off i went then promptly lost it again at turn 1 trying to make up time. Things weren't going to plan. I took a couple of deep breaths, had a swig of scotch and got back into it. By lap 5 i had caught sprinterboy who was having a tussle with Ash, unfortunately Ash spun infront of sprinter and they both went off, close call 4 me, but i got through by a hair. Bad luck sprinter.
At the end of lap 6 whilst trying to reel in Jiminee, i spun leading onto the main straight trying to pass under DmX BUGGER... By Lap 10 i was in 9th behind Jiminee and Humper. Lap 12 applying maximum pressure to Humper, hoping for a mistake i tapped him slightly leading up to the bridge, then tapped him harder exiting the bridge, sorry Humps, didn't expect you to brake so hard there. Next lap i made a clean pass on Humps at T2 up into 8th with one lap to go.
Last lap turn 1 imperious looses it, up into 7th (Bad luck imp) Then Luke looses it at Turn 2, they are dropping like flies :) 6th WOW. the race ended far better than it had any right to, 3 offs and i came 6th. Need a good lie down after that 1 but no time for that! a couple of minutes later race 2.
Race 2.
started well 5 at the end of lap 1, then Gwyar gives me the go left message on the front straight (i just needed some NOS) but no, coming up to the bump he backs off slightly so i could go under him. THANKS Gwyar 4th.
Caught up to Jeff and had a couple of laps of close racing until he had a lose at turn 1 on lap 7. So now i'm in second and chasing Stain. This was going much better than race 1 :) I started reeling Stain in and tried for to much at turn 1 and ran wide, (When will i learn) Lost 3 places and found myself back behind Gwyar. Lap 10 comes the go left message on the front straight :) I'll have to buy that man a drink, thanks Gwyar.
Lap 11 i find myself in 3rdstill behind Jeff and Jiminee, something must have happened to Stain! 3 laps to go and you could have thrown a blanket over Jiminee, Jeff and myself, this was going to be good. Unfortunately i was a little indecisive going into turn 2. Jeff was up the inside of Jiminee, i was closing on them but didn't want to block pass jiminee and force my way through, my moment of indecision caused me to tap jiminee, sorry mate! No damage done but probably unsettling after my efforts last week :o Jiminee undaunted did a great move on Jeff after the bridge.
Lap 12 we were all driving at our limits, in second hand cars on very second hand tyres, unfortunately Jeff lost it at the S's leading up to the front straight, now in second :) Last lap i see an opportunity into turn 1...........
Hmm do i take it or play safe.........
I take it, i slide up the inside of jiminee for 1st. Now all i need to do is stay on the track. Last corner of last lap we come across DaveG struggling with his car, a couple of tense moments for all i think but we both made it through and i cross the line for 1st :Banane20:
Great racing in both races from everyone, to have 19 twitchy nervous cars on a bumpy track with as few issues as we had is a credit to everyone....

Mate, my motives were purely selfish, I wasnt catching the 2 guys in front of me, I knew I wouldnt be able to hold you off, but I also thought there was the possibility, however small, you would catch the guys ahead, there would be a massive stack and I would gain 3 positions in one go :Banane31:
Didnt quite work out, but yeh, if someone is obviously much quicker, I'd rather let them past, instead of possibly end up in a biggle with them, costing us both time.
But great racing last night, best racing I,ve had since Lakeside, had some good dices with quite a few people, notably Glen in the 1st race till an off with 1 lap to go lost me several seconds. Two 3rd places in that company was a great result for me.

How can we view a replay of the race, had 3 mates driving with me and their keen to see their efforts, setting them all up to run from their homes they should all be on line for next race. I've seen an SMV file i think it was called but unable to view it.
Oh SCO AUS that picture above was my car with a mate driving sorry about that, they've been at my place practicing every night so they should improve, Unfortunaetly we're all on the wrong side of 40 so it takes a little longer to learn.
Will hopefully have the second driving simulator finished on Saturday for some practice & Bathurst viewing on Sunday, then to build a Simulator for the last guy.

Yea i had a good set of races couple of bingles but nothing major, well apart from GLEN parking his elan in the middle of the track... :P i didnt see him till the last minute allthough i dont think i lost any positions not that it would bother me if i did because things happen in racing. Imperious your a persistant bugger but i ended up loosing it anyways i got over confident and pushed to hard.
So all in all i have 2 lessons to learn
1) Glen parks his cars in really obscure places :P
2) Yield to imperious it only ends it tears for Russ
Nah it was awesome i love it, and i love the 20+ grid sizes :)
I Also think because this is only my 4th actual sim race ive participated in, I think iam picking it up nicely thanks to some helpfull people Rpo, stain and anyone else thats has given me some tips along the way.

I've had a look at the replay, I came close to hitting you, then luke tapped you then DM.
From what I can see, wrong place at the wrong time and nothing could have been done about it, you spun out and ended up mid track. You started to move to a safer part of the track as soon as you could.
I wouldn't penalise you.
