Get the Mod here: http://www.teamplayers-virtualgarage.com/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=17
Make sure you get the Mod PLUS the Porsche GT Cup Addon AND the Patch v1.01

OPTIONAL: Better Car Sounds: http://www.simraceway.com.au/Crash/Sounds.rar
This is a 45mb download. I have thrown these sounds together for those who, like me, thought the originals weren't that good. It's not compulsory to use them.

Get the Track here: http://www.simraceway.com.au/Crash/GrandValley_1.0P_Uzzi.rar
NOTE: if you use a "common" tracks folder, you will need to install the track to your common folder AND install it to the /GameData/Locations folder of the rfactor install with the above mod for the track to work.

Pick ANY Daytona Prototype or Porsche Cup GT car and Post in the Car Selection Thread (http://www.xgn.com.au/forums/showthread.php?5400-Mid-Season-Event-Car-Selection&p=51826#post51826) to Book your spot :)

Qualifying: 20mins starting at 8.00pm

Warmup: 5 mins (after qualifying)

Race: Timed 2hrs (Starting at 8.30pm)

Thanks again to Yokelhama for the Poster!! Great Job :)

If you have any problems with the mod or track...

Q) I cant load the track.. it gets "stuck" or I get a load error?
A) Make sure you have the later 1.0P version of the track (link updated above) AND if you use a "common" tracks folder you will need to install the track to BOTH your common tracks folder AND the /gamedata/locations folder of you rfactor install..

Q) I'm getting a "Track Geometry Mismatch" when I try to Join the server?
A) The rfactorcentral page no longer has a link to the patched 1.0P version of the track download the track again from the updated link above

Q) I'm getting "mismatch" when I try to join the server with a DP car? I can join with a GT car fine
A) you must download and install the 1.01 Patch of the mod

Q)I get no sounds with the GT cars?
A) you must download the GT car soundpack as well as the cars

Q) I get no sounds with some or all of the DP cars?
A) if you downloaded the optional sounds put together before Friday you may not have all the sound files needed for it to work. You can either download the new soundpack (link above) which is 45mb in size, or re-install the mod to get the original sounds back.

I don't see why not.

This is not so much a car selection, just an observation............ :D

Yeah, find the .sfx file for the car you want to change the sound on, and replace it with one from a car who's sounds you like - becuase its just sounds it doesn't cause a server mis-match or anything.

looks like the sfx files for this mod are in the \GameData\Vehicles\Grand Slam 2006 folder

Would like someone to try them and A) tell me if they work and B) tell me what they think of them. Never done anything like this so love some feedback.

Another way of doing it is if you have a mod that you like the sounds from, you can rename that file to suit the DP car. for example if you like the Holden sounds from the FVR mod and want to use the Riley Pontiac, then save the Riley file somewhere so you can reload it if neccessary, then copy the holden file into the riley pontiac folder and then rename to riley pontiac .sfx ( just using these as an example, dont actually rename them as this lol )
This way you wont have to download anything extra and you wont get any missmatches because the file will direct the game to the right folder etc.

auspacer
24-07-2010, 09:12 AM
Yeah that's what I did. I just then zipped up the new files with backups of the originals so people wouldn't have to do it themselves. It shouldn't cause mismatches this way.

I cant get any engine sounds, with or without the soundpak, any ideas?

Is that with both the DP cars and the GT porsches GW?

The GT cars have a seperate soundpack you have to install (download from the same place you downloaded the GT carpack), for those you should have a "\GameData\Sounds\carrera" folder with some .wav files in it

The DP cars sounds come from the "\GameData\Sounds\DP" folder, which has several subfolders in there

Hope that makes sense..

I noticed this in the description area of the GT cars download.. so downloaded the GT car sounds as well

"***NOTICE***

The Sound folder is not included with the GT Add on.
You will need to download it separately.

I can't get the track to work :(

If I load it in a fresh rF install with the mod on it I get "Error opening MAS file GRAND_VALLEY.MAS". If I load it with my historic install it says "Error opening MAS file COMMONMAPS.MAS".

I don't have problems with other tracks wth the new mod though (eg I jus fired up istanbul with no probs)

Also I get no sounds for DP cars - GTs are OK though.

After seeing a few different issues last night.. and resolving them :fear:for anyone having issues, here's a quick Q&A on the different issues you might have:

Q) I cant load the track.. it gets "stuck" or I get a load error?
A) Make sure you have the later 1.0P version of the track AND if you use a "common" tracks folder you will need to install the track to BOTH your common tracks folder AND the /gamedata/locations folder of you rfactor install..

Q) I'm getting a "Track Geometry Mismatch" when I try to Join the server?
A) The rfactorcentral page no longer has a link to the patched 1.0P version of the track download the track again from the new link in the first post

Q) I'm getting "mismatch" when I try to join the server with a DP car? I can join with a GT car fine
A) you must download and install the 1.01 Patch of the mod, details in forst post

Q)I get no sounds with the GT cars?
A) you must download the GT car soundpack as well as the cars

Q) I get no sounds with some or all of the DP cars?
A) if you downloaded the optional sounds auspacer put together you may not have all the sound files needed for it to work. You can either download the new soundpack which is 45mb in size, or re-install the mod to get the original sounds back.

Heres my prototype leoffb settings (adjust your steering lock angle to suit). It felt a bit floaty and disconnected with realfeel only.

18.0 Front Wheel lock angle, degrees (max deflection to one side from straight on)
0.835 Front wheel distance to centerline (half the front wheel track) in metres, from .pm file
1.50 Front axle distance to body reference point (about half the wheel base) in metres, from .pm file
5 Relative strength of FFB effects
4.0 Aligning moment curve shape / feeling of tyre losing grip. Lower numbers are duller, range 1.0 .. 10
0.99 Negative aligning moment parameter for high slip angles, range 0.0 ... 1.0
16.5 Slip angle where aligning moment reverses direction - typically between 8 and 15 degrees
2.0 Caster (dimetionless)
0.0 Camber ratio (not degrees!)
13.5 Road bumps feeling on the wheel
11500.0 maximum FFB force for stationary and low speed effects
10.0 stiffness of stationary wheels
1.5 wheel rubber hardness (1..5)
8 how quickly static forces drop off when rolling

Accurate pneumatic trail and stationary tyre forces simulation
These default settings were tested on default rFactor BMW Formula 1

Did some laps last night in the GT what a handfull. Bj had helped me out with a setup over the weekend and had taken time following me around for few laps letting me know what I could do where appreciated. So put all to practice last night I was really struggling to be confident coming out of the corners and after some adjustments down to 2m05. Made a few more and managed 2m03 but even there I'm far from a perfect lap. Don't know if I'll make the distance I think the tafe repair boys are going to be busy for this race

Yeah, there are lots of sections on the track where a road blockage is going to catch people out as they come around the corner. I think this race could well get messy - it will be a case of last man standing (but I hope not).

good idea on the damage ! I think no silly passing and it will be fine, faster cars will have to understand they may get held up.. there is not a lot of room to move on some corners and the driving line is tight... really looking forward too it these cars are awesome to drive especially out of the last turn if you hit i correctly you can get a little power slide going........ Hopefully only 2 in the DP, but it will depend how heavy/accurate fuel and tyre wear is I guess.

A full tank in the DP is 20laps, 20 laps x 2mins per lap = 40mins, so stop 1 @ 40mins, stop 2 @ 80mins. Wouldn't be surprised if I have to do a splash 'n' dash near the end though.

made 27 laps, 28 might be possible if more than 3.5 liters after lap 27.
Tyres get a bit slippery, but high 57's, low 58's still doable by lap 27.

Done a best of 1.55.7 on my race setup with low fuel.

Mine looks like "C:\Program Files\rFactor\GameData\Sounds\carrera"

The way i read what you have Cal, is they seem to think everyone will install the DP mod as its own separate rFactor install
