It's like x-mas, look at what just arrived.....

New 4870X2, dual processor 4870 with 2GB RAM :Banane20:

And E8600......

This should help with lap times.

Only one problem, i can't install it tonight because it didn't come with a PCI-E 6-8 pin adaptor :censored: So all i can do is look at it in wonder, and think of those faster lap times to come :ranger:

Got it for $655.00 from MSY The E8600 was $330. Most PC stores now have the 4870 for $800+ and $430 for E8600 MSY very cheap :bananapartyhat:

Prices are going to jump very quickly because of the dollar :fear:, so if you are going to do it do it soon.

Ahhh,

Very famous saying:

You can never have too much horsepower.......

Being serious though, the benefits of a good gfx card all have to do with being able to see the corners, running AA realy helps the track white line end up being razor sharp, it help you hit your apex's.

Just winding you all up on the lap times :behindsofa:

I hope You have the mother of all Power supplies to run that beast!!

BTW, my 5+ Year old Socket 478 P4 Motherboard with Adaptor and Laptop Pentium M @ 2.72 GHZ with AGP ATIHD3850 still has no probs running Race07 and Rfactor at over 60 fps.

In all seriousness, I'll likely upgrade early next Year if there is any Civilisation left to buy products from by then after Global Banking Arseholes have finished screwing the world economy.

Removed by myself as I found the official website and they have a copyright warning there, I do not want to advocate piracy

It will make clear what the financial crisis is about and who it is being caused by.

Ah, i just love a good conspiracy theory

Imperious
16-10-2008, 10:17 PM
Actually the Banking (money masters) AVI's are not conspiracy theory stuff, but actual Historical documentaries on the history of banking in the Western world (Also applies to Aus) and why things happen like they currently are.

Basically the US federal reserve, also Australian Reserve Banks are privately owned, ie, not run or owned by Government, or the people, and it is they that control the flow and printing of money for their own profits utimately.
(I admit that sounds like conspiracy stuff, but it is true)

1.4 gig You definitely wouldn't regret downloading.

I don't have torrent software, don't usually trust the sites people download torrents from :fear:

Imperious

Yes, it is a video documentary, and extremely well researched, total 3 hours, after You have watched it You will have no doubt as to the real cause of the current financial crisis. I'm a bit over half way currently, but have seen it previously.

Get Utorrent, it's free, then if You like delete it afterwards.

http://www.utorrent.com/

When You download the files, right click on the torrent, go to properties and limit the upload rate, especially if Your ISP adds uploads to Your download limit, mine doesn't.

You will have no trouble with this file, it's mostly downloading files via filesharing apps like Sharaeza and Limewire where viruses come from.

There has always have been an "elite group" that controls the worlds economy.

Its a massive plot like all the other bull**** that's going on atm, Terrorism doesn't exist only an excuse to implement more laws and more procedures to control us, fuel isn't running out, LPG sources will run out well before fuel hence why the government is paying half when you switch, so when LPG gets scarce you will pay even more for it.

Everything that is going on at the moment is to scare us so we look to someone for a solution usually the government (Obama in the states is a good example of this) and to make us more in debt to push us back down so these rich bastard who control the economy get wealthier.

Its all about control

There is so much crap going on that we don't hear about "why is America really in Afghanistan?" did you know Afghanistan has the largest opium farms? and its production is up by 50% since the fall of the Taliban funny inn`it..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opium_Production_in_Afghanistan

Is it a war on terror or a war on control? drugs corrupt minds, minds become weak, the weak look for help and who is there to help us? the government!

What about this new scanner at the airports? soon you will see this used everywhere, shopping center's, events, sporting venues all in the name of Terrorism which doesn't exist so why do we need this scanner? who is wanting a 3d scan of our body's in the flesh?? and of course it will be stored on a database for who & why??

Jeez, i don't know.. I post a light hearted thread (Actually mind games trying to psyche you all out ) and all i get, is "hope it works" and the end of the world as we know it :fear:

Damn, my plan didn't work, back to the drawing board.

Anyway, about to duck out from work and pick up new power supply and monster CPU cooler, so i can wind this bad boy up :bounce:

Hopefully she will be up and running tonight, i'm expecting lap times around Monza of 23 seconds a lap with this rig...... Do you think i may be expecting a bit too much? It's going to god damn fly i tell ya...

If i had a time machine it may be possible, or BJ may be able to cut a 23 second lap.

I did a best of 1:53 last night, but it wasn't an honest lap, i ran wide at turn 1 and gained a couple of seconds, we will have to watch that in qualifying as there is no penalty given.

I was able to cut 1:55's though, Stain did a 1:57

rpo83

Originally i was running a 1950pro AGP with an old AMD 2600+ and 768mB ram, that system was about 3-4 years old.

In July i upgraded to E8400, 4GB PC8500 ram 4870 running Vista64.

I have to build a PC for a friend and did a deal where they take my E8400 and 4870 and i get E8600 and 4870X2 :bananapartyhat:

Not expecting much benefit really, just cool to have

Until games are optimised for dual GPU and multi CPU, then........:bananapartyhat:

MAX everything, 1680 x 1050 and i was only getting 280-360 fps !! :Banane31:

Now all i need is for one of the overclocker type guys to give me a hand and tell me how to overclock this bad boy.
If you know about these things, please help. My components are:

E8600 CPU
PC8500 Dominator ram 1066 5-5-5-15
Gigabyte EP45-DS3P.

I'm a bit confused about the FSB and how i optimise it for both CPU and RAM

Even though I have overclocked the crap out of my system, including volt modding the motherboard, I wouldn't bother with Your setup.
You would be better off tweaking Vista and the bios of Your mobo for best and most stable performance.

A couple of good overclocking forums..

http://forums.guru3d.com/

http://www.ocforums.com/

As far as 280-360 fps is concerned, the actual max fps visible will be what your Monitor is set to, which will be 60 fps, same as my LCD monitor. The 360 number is an internal one to the graphics card, and 300fps is being skipped as the monitor is capable of only displaying 60fps at that resolution, mine will properly scale 4:3 res at up to 75fps at 1280x1024 for older games mostly.

An excellent vista, and xp tweaking site.

http://www.tweakhound.com/

You can get Vista running significantly better than it does with a stock setup, same goes for xp.

Isnt it less work for your Video card and run Vsync when you have a card that does it easy anyway. I have found it to be very smooth.

Imperious
18-10-2008, 11:35 AM
Yes, run vsync as it get rid of the tearing effect.

I have found though that using vsync adds to the LCD blurring effect, especially noticeable in car racing games when something like a light pole is flying past fast. Running with vsync off can reduce that to an extent, but it is a personal preference.

BTW, like my avatar, ridiculous isn't it?

The big problem i have at the moment is using all the power of this card.

I have had to set up my PC as a dual boot system with XP and Vista 64 as the hyper doesn't have vista drivers worth a damn at the moment. So i race under XP, i am told that XP can't utilise both GPU's, and it can't use my 4Gb of RAM either :censored: So i'm only seeing crippled results (They do look stunning though)

Can't wait to get my new cockpit started so i can use Vista 64 with new wheel and pedals.

Golly tell me what track to load and how many AI and i'll give you a FPS, in GTR2 Adelaide and Spa were resource hungry tracks, i don't know what rFactor tracks are the same.

I had some weird driver issues last night, in the new ATI Catalyst Control Centre, to can manually adjust fan speed ofor the GPU, it is very easy to drop temps from 80c down to 55c and less. last night for some reason it stopped responding :censored:

I gave COD4 a run last night, WOW looked stunning, all eye candy on textures set to full, 1680 x 1050 and achieved average of 55-70 fps. I wish i didn't suck at first person shooters, it would be cool to team deathmatch. I would be lucky to last 10 seconds though, so i'll stick to single player

I used to own an old AP5 many years ago, and a 318 CL ah the good old days when you didn't need a mortgage to fill your tank. I would hate to think what it would cost to fill my old GT Falcon tank, 163 ltrs @ $1.60 (98 Octane) $260.00 :fear:
