jeff's idea is a good one and i think we could vote fo the best Alfa and the best Cortina. I like it as it sort of follows that era of racing. Although sponsorship wasnt allowed for a long time in motorsport. I like the cortina skin aswell jeff looks pretty tasteful.

I thought .PSD was meant for photoshop, but my photoshop cs3 pack keeps telling me its the wrong type of file. What do I do?
I know very little about this, but i have opened (only), the templates in "Gimp (http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html)" (Don't read anything into the name and associate it with me :) )

Here is my WIP.

Trying to keep it classic in style. Sheesh I normally use loads of nice vector images to make skins, so this is much more challenging.

I made the four-leaf clover by hand which was fun. Gonna try a few more logos/sponsors

and get rid of the wire-mesh obviously.

Tidy work mate.Thanks mate ...what i do is type the word out then high light it with mouse curser which turns it blue ..the change font and style as im going when i find the right 1 then i press enter key and wallar
with the jps i had 2 do 1 at a time then move then into place
if u want a bigger font then paint shop allows i just type a bigger number in
ie: car numbers on jps car r 200 i think its all trial and error but good fun to see the end product

I have added a 'hand-made' serpent for the bonnet to join the clover.

I also used the serpent to make a badge for the nose grill as the template dodn't come with one.

Keen eyes will notice an anomoly, but hey.

If we are going ahead with an aussie short touring series, I am happy to help others with skins too. Looking back at some archival photos and footage, the old simple liveries were quite charming.

Anyways - Alfa or Cortinas - I am happy to share the load (Although Speedfreak knocks em out so fast he could probably do them for everyone!)

i think it is going to be Alfa's Vs Cortina's, still being pieced together. The main reason for this short series is all though half the field is ready for the GT76 Cars i think theres some people that will struggle to enjoy them, So a short series in the 65's should ensure some imporvement in racecraft and bring the fun side of it for everyone. Then bring on the big boys :)

I don't think i'd have a problem making up one, its just not being able to do it in COREL, I use it for all my photo stuff..

The desgin is pretty simple. HemiHead45 font. "jmedia" in silver, black cars with silver highlights/strips/cutoff/cuttback/twotone or something lol

well what i mean is if everybody submits there skin to one person, then that person makes the skin pack as one ready for DL and install. It just keeps it all organised and 1 file to DL rather than have 20 different files floating around.

And here is the Alfa. I just used the lines from my version. The two-tone is quite typical paint job for the GTA. I might also try a thick strip instead of the pinstripe and get rid of the silver nose...we'll see.

Here are 2 more alfa's for whoever wants to use them. (I already have them in standalone folders to be put together by someone)

They are based on the Mildren Alfa's that raced at Bathurst in the late 60s. While GTAs weren't raced in Aussie touring cars (due to 'homologation' rules - imported cars had to have sold at least 250 units) but close enough!

As a side note, I have found a few nice fonts which give the 'signwriting' effect that you found on the early advertising on these cars in the mid-late 60s once ads were allowed.

Hey Speedfreak and others, if I can give some friendly skinning tips.

1) Make sure that your stickers are located under the 'parts', 'highlights' and 'shadow' layers otherwise they cover over the seams, doorlines and filler flaps.

2) Also, sometimes flood or bucket filling the background areas of the stickers you import can help better sit the stickers on the actual body work.

3) Finally, the best logos to import are vector images which don't lose resolution when resized so they don't look pixelised when you import them.
I use this site for my logos:http://www.webchantier.com/_index_en.html

You need a program that will open them - I use illustrator - and then they can be copied and pasted into photoshop. What's also good is that you can select out elements of logos, while in vector form, which can help create themes on cars too.

The Cortina, is a 4 speed, it will get eaten by the Alfas on the long straights, it sounds like it is going to implode at any moment but is fun to drive.

I am a Ford man so i'm heading towards the Cortina, how long before you want me to finalise my decision???

Again they are inspired by real cars raced in Australia in the 1960s. Happy to zip em up for anyone who wants to use them in the upcoming season. I can add names, whatever...

looks like some extensive Kustom work there, the cops will be down on you for running a 'no mudguard" rod!

I dont think so, didnt noticed any changes after flattening the layers prior to saving as a dds. I will double check as i do have it saved as a psd :wof:

Far out Yokel that looks damn nice with great taste, i can relate to you about the stirpes lining up properly but when its done its all worth it :)

Ta guys, yeah it was frustrating alright as the templates are a different scale so there was ALOT of 'move stripe a little bit' then checking in carviewer, over and over till it was right. But happy with the end result for sure :) I'll be using this car too instead of the Pirelli one I did :)

Cool no probs. I'm using the STP Cortina, I assume scottmac will use an STP Alfa still. The Alfa is already in the skinpack, not sure about the Cortina tho. I'm sure Glen will make sure it's in there with my Total Escort as I sent him the link for the Cortina :)

nah nothing in particular...i have my game set on MAX on everything except
shadows even when i race. I think thats why it stands out. I also make sure
ALL colours go well together (on the car) which makes a whole lot of Difference
aswell. Same as Sig making mate. It is really all about the lighting.
When i get ya pm i will try to help ya out as much as possible.

Oh and about my gallery ive been meaning to update it lol
