Toyota's 17secs slower last lap
How fortunate for lewis.

Although i disipise Massa, you have to give respect when it is due. He drove an almost perfect race from pole to win. You can understand why he was upset.
(I'm never going to get tired of the footage of his family all hugging and cheering - then all of a sudden they're told he didn't win, though ;))

Hey they got to experience the joy for 10sec, longer than Coulthard, lol

A fitting and climactic end to a rollercoaster of a Championship, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I didn't find it funny at all, and I wouldn't have found it funny if we saw the same thing with Lewis' family.

What the hell happened to Glock? Has Toyota released a statement at all?
Well done Lewis, well deserved. Will be an awesome next season. :Banane20:

What happened was that Timo could not drive very fast with dry tyres on a rapidly dampening surface.

It seems suspicious that Glock was drving perfectly fine in the first 2 sectors then lose about 10 seconds and a place to Hamilton and Vettel. But it probably was due to wet conditions.

That was the most exciting race for a long, long time. I'm disappointed that Massa didn't win.. oh well. I don't believe Glock threw it, as it was obvious he was still on the dry tyres, losing temperature all the time on a wetting track..... but, I did find this image funny.. lol:

But yes at the same time I was also a bit surprised to see Glock slowing that much because Martin Brundle was commenting that his sector times were fine.

Amazing end to yet another fantastic season ...
Well done to Lewis Hamilton. But i cant help but feel sorry for Felipe Massa he did everything he had to do but it just wasnt enough. I couldnt believe my eyes when Hamilton ran wide and Vettel snuck through, and the Massa crossing the finish line to win (at the time) the championship!!! Wow!!!
Bring on the next Grand Prix ... Melbourne!!!

It (Massa's family) was amusing to me because they looked so boastful after qualiyfing.. And because it's probably something i'd accidently do - infront of.. over 100'000'000 people? Pretty sure it got to 100'000'000 at one point in time last year.

With the way Felipe Massa has improved over the 2008 season, and being a Ferrari fan, I'd like him to win next year's championship as opposed to Kimi.

I'd actually prefer to see Kimi. I feel he's just had an unofortunate year, as apposed to last year. I remember after Melbourne and Spain that Massa had been written off by all Ferrari fans this year - but for 15 seconds they were all on their feet cheering his name at the final race of the year. Although i'd prefer to not see a Ferrari domination next year - don't write Raikkonen off, he's got alot of talent and i expect it will be shown next year. His last 3 races have vastly improved over his mid-season slump; we're seeing the true Raikkonen again.
I wouldn't be surprised if there were reports of a home-delivered, brand new Mercedes driven by Lewis Hamilton arriving at Timo's house in the next few months, though :P

I had another look at it, considering how slow Glock was going.. maybe he didn't have enough fuel? I gotta say though, Vettel is a gun for passing hamilton with 2 laps to go, almost denying him the championship. Best race ever (almost).

I've never got so on edge during a F1 race - ever. I wanted Hamilton to win so much and it was going oh so wrong. Can certainly not wait until next season - Mark Webber for the 2009 WDC!
A picture perfect send off for the ever so biased ITV and James Allen.
The BBC better offer the live telecast like ITV did - i don't know if i can go back to F1.com's Live Timing forever.
Second edit:
There's obviously not a Hamilton supporter doing to polls at www.planetf1.com.
" Did Hamilton deserve to win the title?
-Yes, he was the best of the best
-Hell yes, even the FIA couldn't stop him
-What a question! Of course "

Yes, and if you look at the post race footage when hamilton is hugging people in the crowd it looks like it is vettel there with him jumping up and down in joy after nearly denying him the title.... lol
Could be wrong but it certainly looks like him.
Glock was struggling for traction big time. Have a close look at him try to accelerate after exiting the final turn when hamilton was already past.

If he'd managed to deny Lewis the championship, i'm pretty sure that it would have continued STRs (and whoever takes over STR at the end of next year) engine supply for a few years.

Just out of interest I looked at the sector time differences between Hamilton and Glock on the last lap and the difference was as follows:-
S1 - 3.2 secs
S2 - 9.5 secs
S3 - 5.7 secs

Yes, the 2nd youngest world champion must be quite the grape now.
