Has the format of the race been decided yet?

Trying to pick a car, strategy will play a big part in the decision, i need a car that will go really really quick, not break down and use little fuel and tyres, what do you recommend i use?

:pop2:

It wouldnt be fair to run anything but a 2Xsprint format considering the cobra and daytona only have about 16 min brake life :)

rpo83
09-11-2008, 09:44 PM
Ok how many laps Glen?

My best is a 1:18.9 in the daytona, i haven't driven the cobra around here cuz i used it last round, but the TVR was way off the pace, (with me driving anyway) 1:22's from memory.

The brakes are a huge issue, if you pit stop will the brakes be fixed?

Mr Fox
09-11-2008, 10:09 PM
dont know have to speak to your chief mechanic about the brakes, If your doing 1:18 thats about 80 seconds per lap
80 X 15 (laps) = 1200 Seconds divide by 60 = 20 (minutes)

so 2X15 laps :)

With car selection, are the 289 Cobra and the 427 Cobra considered different cars?

Hmmm, OK

Tricky question.

Last week Jeff and my self used 427 Cobras. To close up the field in race 2 we dropped down to the 289 cobras.

Where do we stand, can we then do the same this round, 427 for 1 race 289 for the second?????

Sorry to be a PITA :playball:

Oh did'nt you read the fine print,

"Anyone choosing the 427 cobra in race 1 and then switching to the 289 cobra in race 2 has to choose the corvette for race 3 and TVR for race 4", it's on the back of page 673 printed clearly upside down in Manderin.

Hey guys,

has anyone else got a different link to download this track because "TPG" use transperant proxie's on Port 80 long story short. I cant download this track from rapidshare. It keeps saying my ip has allready downloaded it when clearly i havent.

I tried the 1st link and it just sends me to a page that isnt even in english and i really dont want to try learning a 2nd language at my age :P jks.

So if anyone could upload it to xgn or know of another link i can use that would be muchly appreciated.

After practice tonight, i went and did a couple of laps in single player. I destroyed the brakes on the Daytona and rushed for a pitstop.

Bloody pit crew didn't even look at the brakes. I blasted out of pit lane to promptly crash my brains out at the top of the hill.

So as far as strategies go, no use pitting. Need to figure out a way of making the brakes last :playball:

Did a few laps in the Cobra, don't know what you blokes are whinging about, did a 1:19 after about 4 laps with an average setup.......... A little sandbagging perhaps :tape:

WHoo hoo! I think this is the closest I have ever been to leaders. I must admit, this is a favourite track from GTL, made even better here in rFactor.
I took your se tup Steve and got my laminated setup chart to out and I have a car that is must suit my driving.
I tried to get as little braking as poss after all the posts by Glen. I may get time for some practice again tonight, but at about the same time 6

Got to admit Bruce,

I am very close to walking away from the Daytona......

I will do a session tonight in the TVR :ohwell: to see how she go's....

The fact that the Daytona WILL run out of brakes, no matter how you drive it, is a major problem. But damn it is a fantastic car to throw through that series of corners going up the hill, it just drifts beautifully on full throttle :bananapartyhat:

and with that in mind, I am happy to run out of brakes if I get a lot of laps of fun in and espesh if I will be in amongst a lot of action.
I used up me "TVR" last week, I still hate the cobra here as well as GTLegends, so I will go with "the feeling" (_:

rpo83

If you have not experienced the way the brakes fail, i would suggest doing 10 laps so you have an idea what to expect, the car will all of a sudden veer right, then just wont slow down.

If you can get a couple of corners out of it like this, it will stop lurching sideways so you can slow down in a straight line. What happens is the front brakes only go, when watching brake temps, the fronts don't alter at all, but the rears do, so you don't completely lose brakes. it is purely the sudden way it happens. Just hope there are no cars near you....

Near the end of the race i will be staying as far away as possible from ALL Daytonas :bounce:

Has any decision been made about the final number of race laps?

Could i talk you into 3 x 10 lap races :bananapartyhat: I would probably run the Daytona in 10 lap races :bounce:

Mr Fox
11-11-2008, 04:45 PM
final number of laps has already been done or are you just toying??

I almost got a full 20 minutes of brakes last week in the daytona. Its just a matter of not abusing them, infact my lap times got better when i was more cautious of my brakes. And if you really want the truth i would run the daytona again this week if i could. What would be great is a one make race in the daytona to see who can convserve but still be fast for the whole race.

11-11-2008, 04:48 PM
After much looking, well about 2 minutes to be exact, the problem is found....

http://historicgt.8.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=1007

Just joking about the number of laps :bounce: i think.

Your math was based on my 1:18 lap, i have only done 1 lap at that time.

Looks like race pace will be into the 1:20- 1:22, just sayin.....

G'day BJ, it will be good to get back on track! :)

So is it just me or is the GT350 a bit slow in this company. I reckon if I drive that I will definately bother the frontrunners... as they lap me every few laps. I was busting getting under a 1:30 in it which is much slower than you gun blokes in the Daytona. Perhaps I ought to go the 289 Cobra? At least it turns ;).

My cunning plan sounds like it is being unwound, no but i will be strong, i don't want to revel in powering the daytona uphill through T2,3,&4 just on the edge of control....... ah the poetry in motion.

Instead i will fight and cajole the TVR around every corner just to lose 4 seconds a lap :fear:
