Hey what happened with the car choices , where did all the pooches come from ??

I think that is just an error with the results proggy. Definately no Porsches in those V8 filled races :).

Fantastic couple of races I reckon! I did a lot better than I expected in the first race with the 289 Cobra but it worked well for me with not too much power on tap and easy to keep sideways. Spent a few laps trying to get by Jiminee but he wasn't making it easy and all the while I had Flattop right behind me waiting to pounce with his Daytona. Later in the race I started to catch up to Rpo but he had the TVR really moving and there was no way I was going to get close enough.

Race 2 was a bit opposite in terms of how well I raced going backwards all the way to 11th . I really struggled to get the TVR going as good but I think given a bit more time behind the wheel with it I might have done a tad better. Sorry to any folks I became a roadblock to at the start, I bogged it and the first few corners had me understeering all over the shop. Apologies particularly to Flattop, I made it quite hard for you to pass as I was swerving all over the place when you trying to get by.

All in all it was a thoroughly enjoyable couple of races and I think I will definately make the effort to stay on racing. Congrats to Prodgers for taking the win in both and to humper, Rpo and Jeff H for taking the podium positions. :thumb:

I feel like i was back racing GTL last night, the cobra i dont like :)

Race 1 i got a good start and was happy to let anyone past in a Daytona, i was sitting in third with Jeff in front in his daytona, i thought he would run out of brakes at some stage so i thought second place would be mine if i kept it straight.... after spinning a few times i came home for 7th.

Second race i got a good start and moved into 3rd, humper got by and i cruised around for a while and then scotty Mac came screaming past like he just put a shot of nitros into his car. I let him go thinking he was going to have brake problems later. I got to lap 14 and he was still braking alright so i tried to get close enough just incase one of his brakes started to fail. I got by on the second last corner and pulled up in 4th position. WD to the podium finishers and the outright win Prodgers.

see you all @ Puka Park with what i hope to be another exciting round. It's time i started putting more practise into my driving and hopefully start getting on the podium again.

I didn't, hehehe. I had my eye on that position and I was just starting to put together an attack when you ran into difficulty. And funnily enough that was the corner where I was going to have a go as I could see you were strugglin a bit there. (looked like you weren't turnin in early enough)

Anyhow very pleased I got the bigblock corba around for 2 races without any trouble. Don't think I ever finished a GTL race with the cobra. And you gotta love listening to it particularly when it reverberates of the walls in certain parts of the track. Although I do maintain it sounds like it’s got an exhaust leak. I'll be getting the pit boys to look into that.

Other than running around with Glen for a bit in both races, it was quite uneventful. Thanks to the guys going down a lap for being so courteous.

I know I say this just every race since we started HistorX, but it's true, "I had a fantastic night's racing" AGAIN! There I have said it.
I at Steve's suggestion, I ran some pracies to know when the Daytona would do the "I Got The Daytona Brakes Shuffle" and thought, I can handle that, well if I didn't have the b offside front wheel in grass I may have, but on lap 11, drifted off, hit the brakes, it pulled right, I panicked and I did "The Shuffle", looking forward to seeing the flamess when attempting to get to the pits.
I was thinking, if I gunna crash, this is the spot, one turn from the pits, but the Daytona had other ideas.

Put is sideways at the start, but collected in time, had some great fights with Jiminee and Acerlyte ("Apologies particularly to Flattop, I made it quite hard for you to pass as I was swerving all over the place when you trying to get by." No problem, it added to the fun.), just focused on lapping and watching the gap drop slowly.
Race 2 was as exciting getting some overtakes but just trying to finish my race without doing anything stupid and ruining mine and others races. I knew each time I closed on rpo, he would be panicking, but I just kept it smooth I did not want to take out a champ leader, but i sure I could see your wide eyes in your review!
Thanks for giving room, the first time I was so surprised I overshot my braking point, I could hear your laughter as you sailed up the inside.
I was ready for the brakes in race 2, pedalled a little slower and shifted down early, and came home, and in the top 10!
A thoroughly enjoyable evening.
Don't know what happened to Cerebus, but you were parked up on the side for a long time, didn't know whether to give you push out or not...

Great race, had a ball.

I can't understand how any of you Daytona boys finished.... Well Done.

The TVR was an absolute POS to drive around that track, but i knew i could do it reliably, if not quickly.

Race 1 had a bad start, hooked it sideways and tapped the wall, got going and settled into 6th or 7th from memory. I was chasin Humper with Jiminee on my tail. Humper had a couple of anxious moments, an off at t1 which would have had him sweating :fear: We had built a gap to jiminee, i knew i didn't have the pace to keep with the Cobras so i slipped her in to D put my elbow out the window and started cruising. All of a sudden i see acerlyte behind me and the gap is coming down..... I was lucky enough to keep it infront of him and come in for a 3rd place, bad luck to Glen and Jeff.

Race 2 i loaded the wrong setup!!! My start was shocking, but worse was none of my braking or turn in markers were working, the car was understeering wide, WTF!!! That is when i realised i loaded the wrong setup. I just had to focus and circulate. Let a few go by me as i simply wanted to finish. Had a fun battle with FT. Sorry about the go right then not let you through!! I thought you had a run on me, but when we got to the braking area you were still behind me, SORRY if i confused you. I was absolutely sure that FT was going to have brake trouble (DOES ANYONE THINK I AM SLIGHTLY OBSESSED BY THIS!!!) So it was my worst fear when on lap 10 FT is behind me, i was cheering him on to pass me and dissappear into the distance, i let him pass only to see him run wide, damn that didn't work. jeez those daytonas spooked me! Had a ball, cant wait for next wednesday.

Thanks everyone, great night....

Especially Jiminees little teaser at the end of race 2, Hmmmmmmmm

Quite unfortunate turn of events......game crashed for R1, jumped back in to spectate and get the lowdown on the competition for R2. R2 comes around and i have had by G25 config reset, so I had no gear selectors mapped.....lucky i was last on the grid........not up front where I was assuming I'd be...... :)

You and me both buddy, remember us poor souls that had no idea about what was to unfold last week.

Anyway you based everything on the brakes and it sounds like your still trying to convince yourself you did the righty lmao.

I was being very prudent and that incident was when the brakes started to go, i missed the early brake point out of excitement in overtaking you and ahhhhh...

I even threw out my anchor tattoo in an attempt to stop the thing...

That was funny I was laughing as I passed you, I must of got the best run, It almost felt like I was playing an arcade racer.

Qual. finished off 4th which I was pretty happy with.

Race 1. Pretty disappointing race. I was running well in 3rd and was looking to see how far in front the leaders were and crashed the car wrecking the engine so I had to spectate the rest of the race.

Race 2. Was a great race starting from the rear and working my way through. I had some good battles on the way and getting some good times in. I was probably pushing a little too hard as my tyres seem to go off with a couple of laps to go. Gleno was always there in my mirrors but he got past me on the 2nd last corner but I didn't want to defend too hard as I am not in the championship race.

Had great fun hopefully I can free up some more time and join more regularly, I am starting to enjoy racing again.

And what if i am ??? You would be to if you had chickened out like i did.

Just because i didn't have the balls to drive the Daytona, and took the whimps way out, it looks like i :Banane56: myself :censored:

But, the brakes were real bad weren't they, hehehehe

Ahhh flattop,i started ok in first race, had nice power. On 3rd corner (or 4th),1st lap, plenty of cars around me.I panicked slightly(didnt want to hit anyone else),got side of car on grass(daytona of course),bounced off wall, bounced off other wall and poor dm had nowhere to go and well i think you can guess the rest.Dm was able to continue,I unfortunately had steering wheel on right side of car.Tried to start it,no go.

But at least didnt have to worry about brakes failing,LOL.
My apologies to Russ,my fault,Sorry man.

Wasnt sure if i went back to garage,i might miss second race( but at least i had a great view).

Awesome racing guys ,well done

Wasnt a good night results wise but still enjoyed myself
R1.Cant seem to get a handle on the brakes on these things. Was down to 75% braking force and 68/32 balance to get the thing from stepping sideways under brakes but still on lap2 of race 1, it turned right into the fence at the end of the back straight and tore the front wheel off. Spent most of the rest of the race watching Glen trying to tame the Cobra, very entertaining.
R2.Started at the back and had a good time working my way thru to 6th, just behind scottmac and Glen. Was feeling very pleased with myself when coming thru the final corner on the last lap, lost concentration and sent her straight into the tyre bundle protecting the pit wall.Killed the engine so ended up 9th.

So how do you guys set up the brakes, seems to me they lock up so easy, and then get very skitterish. Whats the secret?

Also I noticed that damage was set to 100% last night. Is that normal, just wondering if it would be a good idea to set it a bit lower?

Finally, not sure if I hit JAlesi at the start in the 2nd race, didn't think I did and replay shows I just missed, but his car reacted like I just hit him,so sorry if I did

Hey grant sorry to hear about your short comings, last lap last corner always sucks.

Last night i ran about 60% brakes, this week i will leave it at normal with the Austin 3000. I think it depends on the car. The server has always been on 100% Damage since the league started, Its a harsh lesson but imho its the best. Its like having the NO RESTART rule, it sucks at the time but look at how clean we always are now on the first few laps. Having damage at 100% makes you think twice about silly overtaking or putting the car right on the edge through the race. It all comes down to risks then or "Who Dares Wins" If everyone wants to drop the damage then thats cool aswell as its fun first here then beating RPO second....

13-11-2008, 11:30 PM
No,thats OK,just hadn't realised it was on 100%.Probably hadnt crashed before, slow and steady is my motto
