I can get 1.10's in the Austin. and thats a very twitchy car to push hard around this track. 1.08's?
looks like mid field for me again.

1:08 well done, but you gunna need more than that :)

If only i knew how to dial out the power-on oversteer I'm sure I could go a hellofalotquicker............... ;)
actually it is only in the last sector where i need to make it more stable. that off camber left hander sends my ass out and i need it to stay underneath me..........thats where I loose time.
Must consult the setup gods

Increase Power:
Increase understeer under postive throttle, More stable off the line

Increase Coast:
Increase understeer under negative throttle, More stable under hard braking
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Decrease Power and Coast:
Increase oversteer in corners
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Decrease Power: Increase oversteer under postive throttle, Less stable off the line

Decrease Coast:
Increase oversteer under negative throttle, Less stable under hard braking

You could probably drop your rear springs by one notch at a time as that should give you slightly better drive off that bumpy left hander, but you dont want to go to soft as that will play havoc on the hairpin with to much weight being transfered all at once causing you to spin.
Mr Fox
14-11-2008, 10:39 AM
Also one last thing to do is play around slightly with your bump return. In all honesty i think this car only needs slight tweaks as the defualt setup is fairly neutral to drive.

Thanks for that Glen, just have to wait to go home and consult my trusty laminated and coloured Setup Matrix........

for you maybe glen, not this lil black duck
......well ur probably right if we weren't at puka with that last section, sorta throws a spanner in the worx for me at the moment, if I can get it handling thru there, i will be on fire......

I need to stop ending up on my roof at turn 3 :fear:
Absolutely stunning car to drive! I didn't expect it would be so good, my first thought was for the alpine, much easier to drive but nowhere near the fun.
Better call the Healy Factory and order me some spares, lucky they are just around the corner.
I bought COD5 World At War yesterday, up till 2am last night :tape: Great game
There just never seems to be enough hours in the day!!!

Ahh, that could be my braking problem I,ve been having. My 1st instinct with all these cars is to soften the rear end as much as possible.Thank you glen.
I assume were all talking about the Healy here?

yep all about the healy. Theres some good racing books around that talk about weight transfer and how fast you want it to transfer where spring rates come into effect. Also you may not know this but you can use a MoTec plugin for rfactor that give you your lateral G forces in pounds-per-Sq-inch. Helps deciding on spring rates. I havent used this plugin for a while since racing the V8SC's and it helped my driving alot. This software is great as it gives you best possible lap times combining your best sectors. Its is the same software that is used in the real world to.
Going to have to have a look around for some decent vids on COD5 now

Yeah, you aren't trying hard enough if you havn't rolled off that ripple strip :D This track is fun, but damn i just can't get any faster, infact I have only gotten slower.
I picked up a new Logitech Wingman for $20, so I hope to knowck a second off with that, like i did on sprinterboy's.

Good luck, equipment certainly does make a difference.
Having taken the Elite for a spin and not only found it slow against what I expected the other 2 to do, it was so fragile, blowing an engine every outing.
So picked the Alpine as it appeared everyone else was running the Healey, got down to 1:14 and jumped in the Healey, one change and down into the 1:12s.
This being sprints I think it will be a Healey one make race! (If it was an endurance I would be "Alpining")

Pretty much hit the nail on the head Flattop, I really want to have a crack at this with the Alpine but it just doesn't get down those straights quite as fast as the Healy. Mind you, the Healy seems to be a bit of a nicer car to push hard than the Alpine. I really seemed to have trouble getting the Renault to pull up in a stable manner at the hairpin and I reckon I would cause a bit of havoc with other cars around me if I did race it.
I suppose I could go one better and become a moving roadblock in the Elite! Poor bugger of a car screams it's nuts off around Puka and doesn't seem to be getting anywhere fast in the process :noidea:

Jumped on last night for a few laps and thanks to sco_aus pushing me and getting a less stable setup for the Healey pulled down to 1:11s fast for me and still a couple seconds better than I can get in the Alpine.
In the Alpine, I got the braking balanced out well and can pullup hard into the hairpin, but I'm probably not pushing into the turn as late, even though I it was just hitting the red in 5th.
I started to drive it like a mini, backing off into the turns and having the weight turn in and gave me a nice power line through and out.
Still not fast enough as sco_aus was as quick in Alpine as I was in the Austin.
Nice track, with that evil little bump into the straight, it will be look out on the last turn in lap one me thinks.
The Elite is definitely a 'one marque race' vehicle, and still a little uninspiring, different from real life sadly.

I will probly be the only one with the alpine, but being on the KB, i found the alpine the most consistent and therefore (touch wood) should be easy to finish the race.

I can't believe you said that Jeff :Banane20:
The healy is a revelation, i was expecting it to be ho hum, but it is a HOOT to drive. 10's in the alpine is FAST
Your cunning plan will probably work, you will circulate safely and quickly in the Alpine while the rest of us attend a D1 Drift fest :Banane31:
Should be fun, hopefully i'll see you tonight.

I can squeeze 1.10's outta the healy, I just can't stop it from being so twitchy at speed. I can pull 1.11's all day. but any faster and its starting to get too hot.

Did a 109 dead in the Austin, but you know i had more fun in the Alpine with Ace the other night so i don't know, i think if we pick the Alpine we will be running with most of the field in the 11's and it might be a bit more fun, and there is only a couple of guys going quick in the Healies, and if they loose brakes or don't catch one of those big wallowing slides, then an Alpine could come home with the silverware. so i'm a bit undecided as too what to choose for race night :drama:

We should have made this an enduro with double points then the Alpine may have been chosen

Yeah maybe, but you have to admit, this pommie POS is an absolute hoot to drive, i can't believe how well it drifts.
Now if we could just get that bump taken out of the curved main straight, we would all definately finish.
I was amazed at the lack of sliding down the track on your roof tonight, looks like most of us have that little run of corners dialed :Banane31:

That is pretty damn fast in the Alpine. I tried to better a 1:11 in it tonight but I just couldn't manage it even after sorting the brakes. I might join you guys with the Alpine anyway and we can have our own race within a race :).
Then again, I got the Healy going alright getting into 1:08s with some help thanks to Dino and a very nice set he picked up. Made it a much more stable car and far easier to extract a fast time out of. I don't know what Bodie was running setup-wise tonight but he has bettered his 1:09 dead by a fair margin, great lap mate :thumb:

Yeah cheers Ace, it felt like driving a ball bearing on a greasy ice rink with roller blades on, but it's a good quali set up if you can keep it together, managed 4 consistant laps in the 8.3's all within a 100th of each other, i was hoping to break into the 7's but i just don't think i have the talent to wring anymore out of it :ohwell:

I just did 15 laps straight high 08's to low 09's
Im putting a cunning plan together, im going to be asking a lot of the healy tonight, brakes will be cooking, oil will be bubbling but lets face it, its the business end of the season and theres a championship to be won.
Its make or break
haha just jokes
RPO is leading the championship by 26 points with myself in second and grant 41 points behind the leader. Humper still has a look in along with Imperious and Jeff all looking for a podium finish to the tight season.
Good luck everyone :)
