I just thought i would bring to peoples attention an event that the guys at SimRacer have been planning. Entries haven't started yet but if you interested start planning. Should be a good event, there seems to be a bit of interest.

This coming October SimRacer members will have the opportunity to compete in what is arguably the pinnacle of Australian motorsport, testing man and machine for 161 laps around the iconic Mt Panorama circuit. The event regulations will be closely modeled on the real life Bathurst 1000 including driver changes, fuel and tyre regs, qualifying and the legendary top 10 Shootout.



Provisional Event Details - SimRacer Bathurst 1000

Sim - rFactor
Mod - V8Factor Unleashed
Track - ORSM Bathurst 2006 (pending availability of 2010 update)

Qualifying: Friday 7/10/11 - Session commences 8:20pm
Qualifying Format - 30mins Unlimited laps + Top 10 Shootout. 1 driver per car only in qual/shootout. The driver qualifying the car will also compete in the shootout and start the race.

Race: Saturday 8/10/11 - Race commences 4:30pm
Race Distance - 161 laps
Blue and Yellow flags will be in effect - warning only.

Teams -
Max 2 cars/team
2 drivers/car
Driver swap in pitstop only (no hotswap)
Custom skins only (skin request/showroom thread to follow)

There will be no limit to the number of Ford or Holden cars in the final field, each team will be free to select which manufacturer they will race for. Each 2 car team must be either Ford or Holden, not one of each.

Team signups will be open soon, the total number of entries available is still TBC and will be dependent on server capabilities. All sign ups will be handled via the SimRacer site and all racers will have to be registered SimRacer members.

Further details to follow. Make sure you let your leagues and communities know about it and start planning those teams!

It's a long way ahead but good mod, good track & good test of endurance.. I'll provisionally put my name down for a drive as a co-driver with auspacer in the 1st XGN team car :)

Would love to but seeing that is actually the proper Bathurst weekend i don't think i'd run. Seeing i'll most likely be at the track or will be wanting to get away from a screen before watching the race for the next day.

Get into it guys! Maybe we can have a little wager on the side, first past the post between the XGN cars and the SRA cars? ;D

Just a suggestion, but wouldn't it be abit better to have it the weekend after bathurst? Or weekend before of the long weekend? As i don't know how many of these guys would survive the weekend from the wives with watching bathurst then racing aswell. Plus the guys that want to race this but can't if they are are at the real race.

Of course i'm happy that an event like this is happening, im just trying to help get a full field of runners. Not just under 15 cars like some have in their enduros, you really want 25+ cars.
Just running it on the same weekend will be a massive stretch for some, then I know of other leagues where this was posted where nearly just shy of a dozen people can't make it due to the real bathurst.

I'm just offering my opinion, take it or leave it.

Hi Daveo,
We did have a couple of weekends to choose from but in the end I decided on the Bathurst weekend because of the hype and excitement surrounding the real event. I know it wont suit everyone but no date will. The feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive so I am happy that there's something to work with.

Didn't see the XGN car on track for Qual tonight, if you guys are still keen to run you can join rear of grid for tomorrow's big one - Drivers briefing at 4:30pm.
