Exit your game and go to Tools > Options > Games, then find and highlight Battlefied: Bad Company 2 Beta. On the right-hand side you will see in the options "In-Game Renderer" and a drop-down menu to select either D3D9 or D3D10 depending on what you are running the game in.
Mine was Set on D3D9 and the game in windows 7 is running on DX10 (well in windows 7 thats what the game runs on if your GFX Card is capble of DX10) so i change it and now works

what if you not using Windows 7?

I'm using Vista Ultimate 64 and get the same thing.... i'm running the Nvidia GTX 260
In C:\Users\Bishy\Documents\BFBC2 - Configuration Settings (.ini)
    I have changed my (DxVersion=9) to 9
This was done because my game kept on crashing or not starting and i found this fix in a forum somewhere....

I had a look in Xfire for the stuff above, mine is set to D3D9 in Xfire - i have the option of D3D9 or D3D10

    What do i do?

Cool Re: If your using Windows 7 and your Xfire Ingame is not working

Bad Co 2 is set by default to always use highest version of directX your vid card is capable of...IE it want DX11 ...xfire just released update adding DX11 support. Older cards 8600gt+ & above should set for DX10 [ dinosaur's for DX9 ] and new nvidia & ati should enable DX11 in xfire options menu under game support tab.

    Come get some!...
