True Bird, less mass = less inertia for the FFB motors to overcome before giving you input = more sensitive feel, theoretically.
I like a beer when I lap so it would mean squat to me. :o ;)
(and the 'white knuckle grip', as you mention)

2+2=√16

Still $1000+ for a wheel alone seems fairy expensive...

I'd have to be nearly as fast as you to justify my next wheel upgrade. You are as fast as yourself. I'd be tempted

sold out?

I think the way it works normally is he gets a bunch of pre-orders together and then starts on the next batch. The first batch has been sold out but once it's all built they start the process again. I'm gonna have to wait.

edit: from the looks of it there was been four rounds so far. It looks like it's a fairly fast process I think because the development notes indicate 4 rounds of pedals were made between March and May, maybe there's a years gap because that does seem like a fast turn around.

I still think the fantec wheel is very overpriced for what it is, they call it a servo wheel trying to confuse people with direct drive wheels such as the bodnar and accuforce. This wheel is just an upgraded old tech design much the same as the g25 and very different to a proper direct drive wheel. Id much rather spend $2000 on an accuforce then $1000+ on this and guys that have the original csw it would be hard to justify the upgrade if thats still working well. If its not working well then it would be hard to fork out that cash to another product by the same company.

The spiel in the first post is so thick in marketing and not much in substance, sounds like a used car sales pitch to me. They also seem to state the main advantage is durability over their earlier products. Pre release info was hinting at a direct drive wheel but really its just the same wheel with a slight upgrade in motor. Still proprietry overpriced wheels need to be used too so id suggest others looking to spend this sort of money take a look at all the options. There is also a fair chance they will make a direct drive v3 within the next few years if they want to compete against others coming out in the same time frame.
