Yeah I thought the windscreen cracks were funny, but when you get it from a tiny bumper action early in the race it's a wee bit annoying :)

Do flat spots come under damage?

2+2=√16

No, i think they come under 'late braking' or 'avoiding idiots'

I think they do. Its all or nothing, I guess. Good luck finding out what "10% damage" actually means. It would be nice if changing the percentage disabled certain damages.

I think I'll turn it off. It's not going to add much to the experience.

This is all code for "I can't drive with a clutch and H shifter without wrecking my gearbox".

Mechanical damage I don't mind as I don't have any issues with gearbox but the windscreen breaking is a major PITA. Still the damage is more likely just to hurt the guy that did nothing wrong and a first corner incident will cause chaos. Amongst the better drivers in the public servers it kind of helps keep it cleaner but bad drivers are the problem which we dont have as much of an issue with in the league.

Severity of damage seems to be random due to collision issues and lag so a tiny bump may be like a huge hit and visual damage is the worst part due to the polycarb windscreens shattering at minor contact levels from any direction. Could be a reason why not many race cars use glass just the kunos ones all do.

The damage model is broken in some places. Yesterday I was heading up the hill in Spa and suddenly the car damage icon appears showing rear wing damage.
No cars were around me, I didn't hit any thing and by driving you can break the rear wing. Very, very odd behavior.

The best part of that video is he is still trying to turn with no wheels, not sure how he expected his steering inputs to have any effect at that point.  ;D

Just discovered a parameter in the system/cfg/assetto_corsa.ini file under [DAMAGE]. Parameter is GLASS_THRESHOLD=0.65. Wonder what affect, if any, that has?

Personally id rather drove with 100% damage as I always have it on my servers. Sure in a pickup server you will have races ruined but in league races ive hardly had any contact. Had none last round and have only had contact on a few occasions. Having it on will likely make people take more care passing and give more racing room as contact may ruin both cars race. There really isnt too much contact on league nights but most of it is caused by lag which I dont know if we can solve.

I had soke close racing with Bacchulum and Guybrush last round, even though Guy made me pass him with 2 wheels in the grass there was no contact between any of us battling it fairly hard.

You're good.  And lucky.
But some of us aren't so.  I'd rather drive with a bit lower damage.  :)

If the damage was realistic it would be OK, but it's more of a lottery what is going to happen.

I'd rather 100% It's all early days and a bit flaky. So maybe close to 100% for now to stop too much crying. It's about making better racers at the end of the day? and pit stops. no matter how flaky they are, force us to use them next season somehow please!

When I crash into Gratulin or Vipergod. It makes me feel bad... but crashing into Marty or Guybrush. Makes me feel good.
you do the math.
